I changed my mind, the system modeled after chaos zone's pyramid league is better than the idea of splitting up TWL. It still allows TWL as a whole to be annual, it involves the less skilled squads in a better way (by not destroying them while playing vs them in TWL), and it makes TWL better for top tier squads. Who wants to play pointless matches vs a squad you're way better than? I think this is a problem -f- encountered in the qualification of TWL, where they didn't want to play boring matches to qualify for TWL.

But most importantly, one thing the tiered system really excels in is competition. Some people that play this game have a strong backbone, so to speak, and they can play any squad and lose to them again and again and not mind it provided they know they're getting better. Some people are easily disheartened by losses and would sooner give up or just complain endlessly. With the Pyramid system people of similar skill would be playing vs each other, so it eliminates the problem with people that give up easily (to an extent), and it also allows for those players that want to get better by aspiring to be involved in the higher tier. It also removes the lopsided boring matches.

Also, like scoop said, with TWL-split-up system it would be an endless cycle of squad hopping from squad to squad (much more so than now).

ya we do, we can do 8/8/8 in 3 leagues

and if you think about it, the amateur league could be huge, because there are probably like 20 squads that arnt good enough for twl and probably wont be for years, but give them a reason to stay and get better and they WILL stay and get better... let them have an amateur league at least, the intermediate would help them strive to get better, and eventually get into twl

also it would remove some of the really bad twl squads we keep seeing all the time the past few seasons, and put them in the intermediate league, it increases competition for everyone

Combine this idea with finally setting a lower roster cap and it'll provide enough squads for it to work.

thats the only way to get any of this crap to work. stop rewarding longevity and start rewarding activity. dont let an excuse about 'been playing for years' or 'too boring to play easy people' and junk like that. stop listening to all the other vets who only log on once a week for their match and no other times. if we want to grow at all, we have to stop listening to the people that barely play. thats the bottom line of it. otherwise, we'll just continue down the same path.

                  There's Top Tier Squads

                  Middle Tier Squads

and last but not least Lower Tier Squads

Let people work their way up through lower squads and get better so that they can finally compete with the best squads. Farm squads are stupid and don't work, it only makes people think they suck as bad as they do. As far as squad constancy goes it just makes the better people feel better than players with less skill. Maybe I'm wrong and it does work but I personally wouldn't want to be on a farm squad and I'd like to think other people wouldn't either.
it makes me sick when i think of it, all my heroes could not live with it so i hope you rest in peace cause with us you never did

When TWL ends, we should have a competition of twl squads of "who can make the best farm squad!" Each twl squad will go out there and find players in publics/elim/jav who haven't played twl before (or sparingly) and build a team around them. devoted members of TWL squads could then help train them and help these players in their respective farm team to get better. Perhaps we could get TWL squads who would be interested to apply to make a farm team and enter them into the season, and to not exclude the newer squads who just start out in TWD, other newer squads could also apply to join in. (of course, there would need to be some sort of process they'd go through, but there would be less of them compared to TWL farm squads, and would be there to fill the number of competitive squads)

During TWL offseason the farm teams will go through the identical situation TWL teams do during TWL. It would increase the interaction between new players and older players and there would still be a sense of competition in the league (you know, who can train and raise a new squad the best!) hahaha..that would be fun, but i doubt it could be pulled off. If everyone is as willing to help add activity and contribute to the community I can't see why members of TWL squads wouldn't mind doing this, especially considering nothing happens during offseason anyways

also need something that makes these kinds of leagues feel "rewarding" (e-peen isn't enough)

maybe a loadable "skin" (black or something) on the select ship that would be able to be seen by other players...choices in customization/appearance i suppose.

that, however, would take alot of programming that I'm sure no one would want to do.
