4 spid limit and 3 rounds-thoughts?

maybe if people will enjoy basing again, more people would play it, and it wouldn't be dying so fast.

and it's really not that difficult to get a good special as you make it sound.. there's ton of warbirds and javs out there, and i'm sure there's over 4 people in this game that can count to three and hit tab..

but yeah, i say let everyone use 5 spids if they want. all i want is to have more than the louzy 3 shipchanges, so i can switch da1/pjot etc around when i feel we're needing an extra spider or a wb would be a good choice for the moment. right now i can hardly do anything to change the momentum of the game, and that is idiotic and pisses me off more than having to face the same boring 5 spider-line every bd or lb i play.. if squads want to make a game as boring as possible, well that's your problem, i'm still gonna throw in my jav and wb and beat you up with it.

Once again, people are being closed-minded. Just because no one is great at it now, doesn't mean they can't get that way. It does not take Seasons to do this as mega previously stated. Thats ridiculasly inaccurate, and even he knows that. You could also recruit some.

Last time I checked, everybody and their brother likes to special ship themselves in go base and you don't see any rising talent with base javs or birds.

I would say that the best thing about having the current lineup is when you're playing at the tip top level of basing (most serious games against dice come to mind) all three "common" ships are being played at such a level of skill that when a single player begins to drop the ball, everybody knows who it is. And when a player is really cooking, everybody can tell.

By limiting spiders to 4, you force in either a javelin that will get shut down 90% of the time by experienced sharks (there are maybe 2 or 3 javelins who can do better than that), a bird that will easily get shut down and will make cram breaks harder (although without the blocks, good squads shouldn't have as much trouble as before breaking in), or a lanc that is just a dumbed down spider with less shots but more oomph. Less emphasis is then placed on the team's ability and more emphasis is placed on the player flying a special.

There's another reason why we play with 5 spids: to force a 4 spider limit is to require that your starting special attends every serious match. In Pandora there were always around 7 or 8 spiders always in consideration for starting and a long list of players who could B team it easily. A ship limit closes that flexibility that squads who maybe have trouble showing 8 in a match.

Now, I do concur with the idea that all ship limits and numbers of ship changes should be lifted (not including sharks imo, 7 shark crams is just a waste of time) --- after a good long practice run in base or in bds. I feel that this would help change things up in the way that I think people who want a spider limit want.

But, whatever:

No to 3 rounds (except 3 rounds in all playoff games).

No to spider limit (yes to tested non-limits).

Best arguements I've seen against the spider limit so far. However I still stick to my guns, I think people can get better in specials. I'm not thinking so much of the people in ?go base as I am the people who already can special and are just rusty. I'm just trying to force squads to incorporate more ships into gameplay. I think people would learn how to use a special if they knew they had to, however for the sake of squads that don't have specials at the moment, if this rules wasn't applied about now - I'd say wait until next Season. For now, I suppose raising the ship changes would be alright. I'm willing to agree/compromise that maybe making a ship limit now would be too soon. However, I really think it should be applied immediatly after this season, if not right now.

this is simple..i dont really feel like saying everything i think, there has been threads with this already. !add "player":2 or whatever you want, you are free.

if you want to implemment no limit ships for next season fine, use 3 or 4 terrs..but the 4 spider limit is just idiotic, you are just preventing people to play what they want, there is really no good argument against this..its a tactic and an option and by the way 5 spiders is by far the best setup there is.

seriously... if you already know how to wb then you can already figure out how to spider pretty easily, and before long you can be a very good spider

spiders should be able to do the same thing for wb pretty easily, at least in base

and lots of people can base jav pretty well


i dont see why this is even an issue... people can figure out how to use ship 1 and 2, and if not well they are garbage players anyway, a player that can only spider is pretty useless honestly, make them learn a new ship

I think Knockers and PJ are right on this one. After playing 5 spiders in twl for like 4 seasons in a row i'm getting bored of it, and i think limiting the spiders down to 4 would make the games more interesting.


I also think that allowing every ship in twlb would make the games even more boring as they are now.

All this coming from the owner of a squad (Sage) that doesn't really have any laggy javs or eating wb's rostered at this moment. Even if it meant we always lost to necro's lagbombs in the leagues, it would be a change for the better.

gtfo with the spider limit, if squads wanna be creative they can always use a special ship. but why'd you wanna make teams worse than they are? dice and pandora proved that 5 spids is the best lineup. it's like forcing federer and nadal to play tennis with the wrong hand or making usain bolt take as much steps as the rest of the runners. and if the dullness is a problem cause of spectators not getting as "interesting" matches as they want they could just spec it a little closer. I see more skill in team pushing in together with spid power on the right moment than one laggy jav getting one bomb thru a rep every once in a while. and the crams will be a lot easier to break and the fr battles will also be more fun due to the removal ot THE blocks, which is a nice new thing for twlb.

No it's not, it's like making all the players do that in order to equal the playing field and adapt their technique... which, since they're such good athletes, will.... but of course a tennis player's whole career is based on training his whole life with his dominant hand.

It's besides the point, but Usain Bolt probably takes less steps than the rest of the runners.
