If everyone can suck it up and agree to play at a high level knowing that qualification could end at any time, do it.

well to eliminate that just send out a disclaimer in zone and say "qualification closes in an hour, good luck" that gives em an hour in case they just lost a match and need points to crawl back up

i can't see that happening, i think ppl would complain even more.

the current system is far from perfect, but i personally can't really see a way to fix it. however i thought giving the last place away in a 4-way playoff was a very good idea.
what i do like about the current system is the pressure that already comes with the final few days, which is something i enjoy. it already reminds me a bit of TWL playoffs, a time when you simply have to step up and shine. and i believe usually the squads that belong in TWL, on the last days step up and show why they should be in TWL..

but yeah the qualification system is flawed. the deadline was incredibly awful. and i still feel there were better arguments to let 10 squads into TWLB than into TWLD, or at least 10 to each. In both leagues as many squads were standing very close in the rankings.
i wouldn't at all mind if basingcrew, sage and brainwave would (still) be let into TWLB. all of those could challenge the squads that currently got in (except Dice could stand out from the entire pack). Well in all honesty for Brainwave it could be a rough season, but they've showed great activity and dedication and TWL would be a deserved reward and great practise for these players.
However I understand TWL ops (and staff in general) doesn't like to be flexible or pragmatic.
But like I've always said: let as many squads into TWL as there are truely competitive. instead of setting an amount of squads that can enter ad\nd then hoping there will be enough competitive squads is doing things the wrong way around. Especially if a competitive/active squad dies out because it didn't make it to TWL, that's quite a shame.

So I've had a chance to read the posts. Knockers, I can tell how passionate you are about this situation. However, I disagree with your points. Sage and Laser have not been punished for doing anything explicitly wrong. Neither of them is to blame. I am not looking at how nice and honest any of the Sage or Laser members are. I am strictly looking at what I can objectively see. What I see: I see Sage trying to qualify for TWLB with time running out. I see that they finally found a squad that would play against them. I see that Laser left the game because they found a jd, and they needed to play in that jd in order to qualify for TWLJ. As a result of them leaving, they end up forfeiting the match after a few minutes and Sage gains the points they need to qualify. I see a squad gaining points to qualify into a league without actually doing anything. Yes, Sage did get the game, but they didnt actually have to play the game in order to earn the points.

The games were voided because a squad was able to qualify for TWLB without actually completing the game in order to earn the points. It was neither squad's fault. Yeah, it really sucks that Laser left and I understand why Sage would feel like they are being punished, but I have to think about precedence and how it affects the other squads, too. If I allow this, then more people could have more situations with more free points, and I dont think many squads that actually played their games would be very happy.

The decision stands, Sage will be playing BasingCrew this Sunday. Good luck to both teams!

Hey now, I think I've been pretty good. I did let 10 squads in TWLD when I planned on 8, which made me find a completely new system for TWLJ and TWLB playoffs which also meant that the site needed to be changed so that it included different rounds per division. And didnt I change the playoffs in order to meet player's requests for longer, more exciting playoffs with 6 squads? Don't forget about those Rules I ditched in the Revisions thread because people didnt like them... :P

Thats stupidest thing i`ve heard. How many games should have been voided during the twd by other squad leaving for some other game? We dont care shit about dd and we sometime leave during the game if we get jd or bd....the thing you call feeding. Why this thing comes in issue couple days before cut when almost every squad has been doing it during twd?

The only thing I can guess this can be about is Pjotters ban. If that's the case you were right with the ban, but wrong about the ban length. Ban lengths can be changed after a decision is made, voiding a game can't.

I guess another little course of action in the shut up knockers category would of been whether Sage cared to really argue this or not. Had this game not been played on the same day as the TWL deadline i doubt this would have been an issue. Given other squads were caught feeding that same day, i think this had a substancial influence on the decision to cancel the game.

This thread meantions little of all the people baying for sages/lasers blood for "feeding".

laser had never bded before. why would they suddenly decide 'hey, instead of trying to get a jd and qualify for the league we are trying to get into, let's jd for shits and giggles!!' i mean sure, it's possible, but i doubt it.

A very plauseable arugement that lasers story is bs and doesn't add up, which causes a problem for us staff.

If the game had been allowed to count, no doubt we would have seen a thread posting about how sage got "feed" into TWL and a substancial number of complaints. I can't really see how staff can make the "right" decision in this situation, its down to perception, people are going to be pissed off and think we made the wrong choice whatever we do.

The decision was made on the balance of probabilties. Having a squad that had never BD before suddently forfiet a game just before TWL looks very much like feeding. If laser had been an established BD squad i dont think the game would have been cancelled, if the game had been played 3 days earlier, it wouldn't have been canceled either.

The facts of the situation (just before TWL and squad had never BD before) made it appear to be feeding regardless of the "truth" which is why i think the decsion was made to cancel it. Now you guys can complain that is unfair and you would be correct it is unfair. You're find many many similar situations in real life, its impossible to make a fair descision in these situations.

Of course the real answer it to put your squad in a suffiently good enough position before the final day of TWL Qualification that you don't have to worry about the risk of marginal calls going the wrong way for you, otherwise you have to accept that risk, it will always be there.

I think Laser stole a twlb spot from Sage (if they don't win cup). They are the only ones to blame, not staff. It's easy to shout at the people who make decisions about complicated situations. It's like in politics, you got to give politicians some credit, all they do is deal with massive complicated situations.

As a Sweet player we also were victim of squads hungry for easy points. I think most of us feel we shouldn't be playing this cup, but yah well....

I applaud what Mirrorrim does and the way she reacts on topics as these. Her attitude and communication capacities are 100 % better then previous persons or persons who always bash on staff. It's funny people start talking about the random cut idea when she proposed it in previous threads. The cup gave squads who just fell down from a qualification spot another fair chance to prove they are worthy to twl. I don't want to think about the consequences as we (sweet) didn't have the cup to still play twl. That would have been sad and a competetive loss.

I really can't believe I even waded through the first page of this thread. There are only two arguments: void the game or don't.

Circumstances matter in this game, as is evident in the dice/heavy situation, this situation, even pjotters ban, and the circumstances around this bd were shadey at best.

You accepted a bd against a squad who never bds less than 3 hours before the ladder lock when you were less than 10 points behind qualifying for TWL.

The other team sucks and/or was just doing you a favor and leaves the arena. Either way, whether or not the feeding was deliberate, you would have skated into TWL on a win that could hardly be considered a win.

You should be ashamed for even trying this and even more ashamed for making a thread that could just a well be titled 'wtf, staff won't let us lame our way into twl.'

If you're good, you can get through DC. If you're not, well then I guess I'm glad you didn't qualify.
