Well perhaps thats something to use for NEXT twlOriginally posted by kthx View PostYou know several years back I designed a better system that allows a more realistic point number to be assigned for twl qualifications.
Something where every recorded stat is used in the decision.
it was
+1 point for playing a game
+1 point for winning a game
-1 point for losing a game
+1 point for every point above 1000 for average rating
-1 point for every point under 1000 for average rating
+1 point for any win streaks over 15
Something like that that takes things into consideration like.. how many games they have contributed to twl qualifications, how hard the people they play are, etc.

I appreciate the decision for the tournament flared. Regardless of the number of squads that will be participating, I believe the decision is a right one.
Nonetheless, since a decision has not yet been reached as to the number of teams in the tournament, I will once again express my argument as to why Paladen should be included. As Reab said, and I completely agree with him, the time change affected many unexpected captains. If we are to accept that the time change is the reason for granting this appeal, then we must consider the TWD ladder as it was on May 1st, 12:00am. Sweet was ahead of both Paladen and Hit at this time; both squads benefited from an accidentally added day of playtime. Since Sweet ideally should have qualified ahead of both squads, by surpassing them, these squads ultimately contributed to Sweet being knocked off the qualification ladder in the subsequent day. As a result, it is my belief that both are required to justify their higher than Sweet ranking by the end of the second deadline.

Yeah I know what your saying but also the learning curve for birds is start out on a much straighter plane than for basing. So its easily for twlb squads to look like they are putting up a fight in twld than for the opposite to occur. But trust me for any mid-level squad they aren't any competition.

the thing with ld is most of the 0-9 ld squads do put up a decent fight every week, pretty sure penetrate dropped at least 30 in most games last year and even got a 40 or two in
the reason for that is there's not a HUGE leap from 4v4 to 5v5, it requires some minor strategic tweaks but it's the same basic idea
with twlb 5v5 and 8v8 is night and day, 5s honestly shouldn't count toward qualifying because it's like playing a completely different game
oh well, just the latest in a long line of bad twl op decisions

You see PH, this is only a big stink because basers think they matter more than the other leagues, every year in TWLD we have some stupid assclown basing squad go 1-9 or 0-10 and don't fucking file appeals to get them kicked out of the division because we know they are going to suck. Im sure some bird or base squad does the same in TWLJ, and im sure every year there is some assclown jav or warbird squad that wants to get into TWLB because they are bored during qualifications. Next years going to be even worse when playing 30 twbds and having a 900 rating nets you a cool 6th slot in twlb and gives you a +10 to your roster cap.

this isn't about my squad, this is about leaving paladen (who's unquestionably going 0-9) in the league when sweet and hit would both win at least 3 games because they give a shit and are actually capable of playing 8s
all paladen did was abuse a broken system and rather than fix it the league op is allowing them to foul up the only league that's worth playing
remember when everyone laughed at virtuosus? yeah, that same virtuosus squad would 15-0 paladen right now
remember when teks and camisade averaged like 30 seconds of flag time per game in season 9? yeah, paladen wouldn't beat them either
this is just a shitty move by everyone involved

Stop being so melodramatic for fucks sake, it isn't like Paladen, Sweet, Hit, or any of the other squads under 900 are going to be beating your squad in twlb anyways PH. Does it really matter who gets the 9th and 10th spot in twlb does it really make that much of a difference to you who are one of the best twlb squads?

Guest repliedJust in case anybody missed it amidst all the whining
Just in caseOriginally posted by fLaReD View PostIn my opinion, as well as a majority of the other TWL ops, Sweet's appeal is indeed legitimate. Due to the ambiguity in the posted cutoff time as well as the time it took to correct it, Sweet's appeal will be approved.
This coming Sunday, rather than playing week 1 of preseason, the affected squads will participate in a match/tournament to determine which squads will qualify for TWL. The rest of TWL will run as normal, and the squads effected by this appeal will only play the qualifying game for TWLB. After the match(es), qualifications will be final.
As far as what squads will be involved--I've been trying to access to the TWBD ladder at 12:00am on Sunday May 1st (the time Sweet though qualifications ended) to see what positions the squads were in but unfortunately do not have this information as of now, though it should be available shortly. If a squad was qualified for TWLB at both of the possible qualification times they will not be asked to participate in the tournament and their invitation will stand. As soon as the TWD ladders from that time are available I will announce which squads will participate in the qualification matches.
Any questions feel free to PM me or any of the other TWL ops in-game.

Guest repliedIf I had forum moderator access in this section (which i should as a twl-op) I would be closing this thread right now. This thread was an appeal made by sweet, and a decision has been made. If you want to file a separate appeal please start a separate thread and it will be addressed accordingly

No I know we will win, we beat you enough times before, but I just think it would be unfair... principle matter instead of a skill matterOriginally posted by Soilderz View PostOranje why are you mentioning stuff that doesn't matter?
"A lot of things about the ladder can change every day, Paladen might have done this last week, but they did that Sunday... how is that different."
Lol? What is different? Saturday/Sunday was the ladder lock, thats the diffrence, and it's everything. You can't compare the last weekend to any weekend as this was the last deciding chance for the squads to make it to LD/LJ/LB and it was announced to be on Saturday and not Sunday. How can you not get it? You're the one being subjective towards Asians. If you would be in the situation like Diso / Sweet are you would be whining and appealing just as much.
How can it not be fair for everyone to do a mini tourny to see who is the best squad for the leagues? Scared you aren't good enough or what?
Oh and besides that it would be interesting since hard-rosterlock (the right word?) has not arrived yet => eg: teemo, 1.337, flared and co can still join us/you just for the mini tourny....if flared decides there will be oneLast edited by Oranje; 05-03-2011, 08:35 AM.
