My Official Response

fLaReD stated before the season started that all appeals would be decided on publicly by the TWL-Ops. Well here is my decision:

Despite the fact that it's weird to read a TWLB appeal from a squad that's not even in TWLB, I vote for this appeal to be APPROVED.

Reason #1: Despite that I know for a fact that everyone knew the real deadline was indeed Sunday night and that people are just grabbing at straws due to this injustice, the burden of being thorough lies with us (The TWL-Ops), and we failed to be clear about the time.

Reason #2: Sometimes it is best to reserve the right to use common sense instead of being a rule jockey. For the sake of being competitive, I believe we should at least give Sweet a chance to play in TWLB as the only squads hit/paladen would be competitive against would be each other.

Conclusion: I'm all in favor of this mini-tournament on Sunday May 8th 2011. This tournament would happen in conjunction with Preseason Week #1, causing all the squads participating in the tournament to miss this 1st week of preseason while the rest of the squads participate normally according to the schedule.

Note: My decision is mine alone, and does not represent the decision of the rest of the Ops. Flared will release the final decision when he feels the time is right.

and would u care to point out where in the rule book it states that we have to agree to a cancel for the points to count towards twl? The argument by SWEETS captain is time so hit and sweet should play if the twl op decides to make the change.

I don't care to look into the TWL rules, as i am sure the TWL ops are already doing that. I can say however that 4 years ago there were rules against international feeding, with penalties ranging any where from rating point fines, as DragonGuard was fined 500 rating points, all the way to a squad being banned from TWL itself. Pandora may not have intentionally gave Paladen the win, but Paladen intentionally accepted that win, three days before the known TWL qualification time period, knowing the points derived from that win would ultimately have a deciding impact on who qualifies for TWL. I am sure these rules have not gone away since then. Unfortunately Sweets captain was not aware of the information I provided regarding the feed given to Paladen at the time of his appeal. However, that does not mean it should not be taking into account.

Feed? Since when is a squad not having enough and forfeiting a feed? Smart move by us to accept the win and to get points. It's not our fault that they miraculously lost their 5th player. Anyone trying to qualify would have done the same thing if presented with the situation. You're all a bunch of liars if you try to deny that. If you're going to be mad at anyone for this situation, yell at Pandora for not having enough players. We did the smart thing and took the win. Regardless if you guys think we can compete in the TWLB ladder, we earned our spot fair and square. It's not up to you to tell us how good we're going to do. Let it play out and stop crying.

I feel that a tournament is in part a reasonable idea. However, due to the evidence I provided against Paladen, I respectfully disagree with this tournament. I feel that Paladen's invite to TWLB should be revoked, allowing sweet its rightful entry into TWLB, also allowing TWL to run smoothly. Both hit and Paladen were allegedly fed wins. If you were to take both wins away, and in additional remove the pandora feed that Paladen admittedly and intentionally accepted, Paladen would still be last on the TWLB ladder.

It would be the smart thing if it were not during TWL qualifications. You can not argue the fact that the game was not played, therefore the points were not legitimately earned. No squad has the right to such a win if the result of that win is to push a squad out of TWL that has a legitimate right to be there, unlike Paladen. Thanks.

Why don't we have a legitimate right to be there? The rules do not say anywhere that we have to cancel a game because the other squad can't find enough players after accepting. Once again, it's not our fault that Pandora didn't have enough after accepting the game. Their bad, shit happens. You can't penalize us for anything. It's a shame that Sweet has to be left out, but sometimes that's how the cookie crumbles. That's why you don't wait until the last minute to try and qualify for a league. It worked out for us but not for them and now they're pissed because they came up short. Wah wah.

EDIT: The only basis of an argument that you or anyone else has here is the fact of a game feed. Seeing as that was not the case, you have absolutely nothing. Go elsewhere.

They have three days from the time of an appeal, last I knew. It's sad that Paladen members are willing to show such a lack of integrity. That is certainly not the way I would want to remember the legacy of this games oldest squad.

You're damn right. Why would we not take it? You've got to be an idiot not to. And since this happened THREE DAYS before the deadline, where the fuck is Sweet for those last 3 days? Again, not our fault they can't get online and realize.."Hey, we should probably BD seeing as Paladen is ahead of us on the TWBD ladder and we won't qualify unless we do." You're trying to reward stupidity on the behalf of Sweet not logging on and shoot down the intelligence of Paladen to do something smart and take a win.
