About Roster Lock + Disbanding Squads

How about these rules ....

Assuming every team plays 10 game in a normal season.

- A non-TWL member joins a TWL squad will be suspended for 1 game. (a simple waiting period for "new" players)
- If a TWL member switches from one TWL squad to another TWL squad he/she will be suspended for the next 3 games. (penalizes "squadhoppers")
- Anyone who joins a TWL squad after game 7 will not be eligible for post-season games. (penalizes those who don't even play regular season games and join a playoff bound squad)

i could agree, but it would be irrelevant. if you want to chit-chat emotional details, we'll talk elsewhere. this thread is about fixing an exploit in the rules.

i've enjoyed the reading in this one too.....

ive played TW for almost 3 years now...and have always looked up at Cripples as a leet squad that i could respect.......

ive also admired leagues from afar, and was always told "TWL is about the league....about the stability, and about the leet competition"

this year through some extremely hardwork from Mythrandir and others helping him, we have this wonderful new TWD which is a great developement and feeder league for the TWL and elevating the level of play right across the whole zone

im actually quite surprised with the long-time class of cripples that they havent pulled out of TWBD outta respect for the league, but maintained the leagues they can produce a roster for..... like javs or wb's if they are in them

just seems logical...rather then a silly cat fight for half the season arguing about it......lots of games left and it is supposed to be about the competition and the fun of competition

either way, im sure cripps will rebuild and be back strong for next season

with regards to the rules, there has been some great suggestions that should be seriously considered if you want to curb squadhopping...

i like the one that has a 3 game sit if coming from TWL and a 1 game sit coming from non-twl squad (providing that they have not played on any twl squad that season)

and make it so that a player must be eligible for at least 1 regular season game in order to be eligible to play in the playoffs....

so in a 10 week season, they would have to change at the latest between week 6-7 so they would sit 7,8,9 then they would be eligible week10, and if they played they would then be eligible for the playoffs

your at least going to slow down some squadhopping that way if they have to sit almost a 1/3rd of the season

for the record, i don't have nor have i ever had captain status for cripples. i'm not arguing on their behalf and i sure as hell don't represent them. the decision to stay in league or let some other team come in is not mine to make.

i've just been arguing on my own because i'd like this problem fixed, as well as whatever other problems we come across that the rules don't cover appropriately.

It's impossible to please everybody, no matter how hard you try, but I still think push and epi have made the majority happy. To gerbz, I'd say, you're making all efforts to make the TWL FUN, void. Is TWD really that horrible to be in? I don't think so... Cripps will still get some no-shows and drop out of the leagues one league at a time...

- War Angels had been dissolved, few players joining Egyptian aferwards, including captain.
- War Angels has used players like Delectable for one week just to win some matches, two days later he was playing with his twl squad again. And this is the case for more players.
- Age dont matter in this game.

To Gerbal / Cripples:

I feel with you that it sux when your squad is going down and it seems like you cant stop it. Though I realize now, after what my squad has been through in the past, there is more than just leagues. Also you guys could have prevented this situation by having a larger roster. My squad seems to have a bit too much people, but it gives us time to help the talents getting trained by the older people. Sailing with a boat with people from who you are not 100% certain they would stick with the squad forever, is not very smart. Maybe you couldnt see this situation coming, but you allways need backup. You could blame your squadcaptains for that, or your own squadpolicy.

I saw you saying something stupid about HCK. If HCK is fighting their asses off for a TWLB spot, why wouldnt they deserve the spot ? People in tw should encourage new squads to compete in twl's best league, if there are no better options available. If Cripples cant have enough players for TWLB, that wont make TWLB better. In fact a TWLB match would be more fun to watch if the match is actually 8 vs 8. And older squads will eventually die and players will leave this game. So its up to the new squads to keep this game alive. So it would be foolish to refuse new squads and or players just because the old ones want a second chance for their mismanagment. If a 7 year old kid like Iwan could do it, I expect the same at least from Wix and Utopia also.

I have faith in all my players and most of my duelers are just as good as delectable therefore do not accuse me of using anyone.
War Angels has never dissolved , when it was about to dissolve I came and resurected it , its been running fine and steady now thank u for ur concern Na$ but maybe u should pay more attention to whats happening in ur squad rather than sticking ur nose into mine. Only War Angel who left the squad was Prljavac, he returned back to WA after acouple of weeks.I was never on Egyptian and don't accuse me of being someone who I am not. This thread is about finished up I don't want to extend it anymore.

War Angels never dissolved dipshit. The only thing that ever happened was our leader, Phirewolf, lost interest in this game and then Tyson took over.

About Delectable joining War Angels.. who gives a flying fuck? Okay so maybe you do.. but does anyone else? I've seen people join and leave other squads after a couple days of being in them too.

you're missing the point.. I have zero emotional details to talk about. the flaw is with your squad, not with the rules. they didn't fix their roster before the lock, so step aside and let someone else try.

The rules are fine, and if the leaders of your squad gave a shit, you woudln't be in this position. you make a big deal of loyalty, but you were loyal to horrible leaders and followed them right down the drain.

Cripples were great once, and maybe they could be again, but that's just a name, the squad right now is nothing.

no, you're missing the point. we could throw out the whole cripples issue and the argument would still be the exact same:

the current rules promote what they're supposedly designed to prevent.

step-by-step, here we go:
1) according to epi, the roster lock was designed to keep people from ditching non-playoff teams and stacking playoff teams.
2) the purpose of that is to keep a fair level of competition going into the postseason while keeping lower tier squads alive.
3) because of the roster lock, players are pressured into making a last-minute decision to stay on a shitty squad or leave for a squad with a better chance of winning
4) multiply that on a league-wide scale and you have a high chance for a mass exodus from a lower tier team
5) a mass exodus will likely kill a lower tier team, thus negating the purpose established in points 1 and 2
6) a new team from TWD replaces the failing TWL team, meaning you get a whole team of new TWL players (which opens a brilliant exploit in the roster lock)
7) the former TWL players get kicked out of league for breaking no rules and for not following behavior that encourages the destruction of squads

i don't see how you can see anything good at all in that bloodzombie. perhaps you have a dislike for the cripples or whatever, but if you remove them from the equation, you're still left with a pretty fucked up series of events. and instead of fixing it, you seem perfectly content with letting this happen season after season. you're supposed to be smarter than that.
