    3 things:

number 1: ephemeral is my new hero of the moment.

number 2: the time-based suggestion is interesting, but wouldn't accomplish anything. once a team would have more than half of the held base time, the other team could easily just quit attacking and fly around forever... at least with a points-based system it's harder to get to that point total where you don't have a chance to comeback. also, there would be no incentive to keep attacking once you have the flag because you wouldn't reap in nice kill bonuses. so basically your idea reverts base matches to a turtle-match that has a high probability of ending 10 minutes early. good innovative suggestion vihta, but wouldn't work worth a damn. keep thinking along that vein though, i like the idea of incorporating time held as a PART of the overall score.

number 3: m_m god is a sellout. i'm going ?cheater him right now

Regarding the flag time game :

I'd definitely suggest testing ideas out in ?go base and ?go twbd before springing them in twl. A flag time game and a pointbase-like game would be good things to test.

lets clear some stuff up. Why are u requesting a replay? Cause ur terr lagged out? Or cause lineup wasn't submitted in time? For the latter one, 3/4 of trench got dc'd twice and i was tryin to submit lineup during that time. When i got back i asked how much time was left and didn't know that the extension began since it wasn't announced.

Forgive me if someone already suggested this, but how about making the match a race to get to a certain number of points (say 100k)? That way you would always want to attack if you don't have the flag, and both flag-held time and kills would be important.

It feels like a reasonable idea to me.

the idea about the pointbase format is the best suggestion i've seen so far. without a time limit, the pointbase format offers constant competition by offering a chance to ALWAYS be able to comeback and win the game no matter how down you are in score. thus, it keeps both squads heavily on their toes throughout the entire match since the tide could turn at anytime.

the only drawback to this idea would be heavier turtling of defense, but it's the lesser evil in my opinion.

You mean what K2 said before about reaching a certain pt (like maybe first team to 150k)?

no, i mean what brookus posted referring to using the same rule structure as ?go pointbase.... you know, the arena where no points are awarded except when the periodic flag bonus dings and counts as 1 point to whatever team possesses the flag when it dings (first team to 10 wins). that way, if a team is at 9 points, the other team still has a chance to get the flag and make a comeback.

completely time based basing where a team would hold a base for a given ammount of time not just when the flag dings will be nice.

Pointbase offers an interesting approach to basing, but an unfair one.

The team with most flag time still has a chance of losing, because the team only needs to have the flag during the moment the award occurs. So a team could just quickly grab the flag, get a ding...and lose it, so essentially, the more dings a team gets...the more likely they win. That's why a timer needs to be in correlation with the flag.
                          Ну вот...

Why not make it the first team to 100,000 points wins the match. I don't see any disadvantage in doing it this way. Basing matches would still be decided by both the amount of time holding the flag and the amount of kills while holding flag. Problems with teams running at the end of matches wouldn't occur. This also has the added bonus of shortening most TWLB matches, only matches that are extremely close would last 30 minutes or more.

Racing to a specific amount of points seems to be the best idea presented thus far. If it were solely about flag time then it would undermine the importance of getting kills. Is that important?
