    sorry if i were racist..
WHen i lived in england w/ my parents, it was hard to get a job... because w/o a work permit, they wouldn't be willing to hire u. how the fuck do u expect immigrants to work when both my parents (phd's) couldnt legally work.

Unless ur stupid, its not the immigrants' fault, its a serious flaw in the government.

However, even though we are immigrants, we still feel that immigration laws in canada (where we live) could be stricter... right now, canada is letting in a bunch of dead beat fucks who live off our tax money. If they cant contribute, they shouldn't be coming here.

      Here, Here!

I live in Canada where there is probably the lowest rate of minorities.
Must say it was quite an experience visiting a city with many minorities.

Most people in England that complain about immigrants are Sun reading, bigot fukers who know nothing better than estate (trailer trash) mentality. The reality is very few people come to England just for benifits, most come to avoid horrifc wars/governments and have a positive effect on the community.

The 1% that abuse the system recieve 100% of the press in the conservative papers, and the dumb masses believe it.

I work and know alot of people who come to this country to start a new life, and i can honestly say i would trust them alot more than the white estate trash that fills 50% of Uk cities now.

EDIT: I felt bad after reading TK's post.

It simply pisses me off to be called an ignorant Hillbilly.
I don't like it, or the bigotry inherent.

According to the latest UN projections, Japan should be officially shrinking in population by next year. Japan will also have the oldest population in the world. This is a huge problem. Basically there aren't enough young workers to replace the older workers, and since Japan doesn't embrace immigration there's going to be a huge deficit in workers and people to pay off the pensions of the retirees.

Because of the baby boom the whole world suffers that problem too, thats why the Aust govt is matching every dollar that an australian citizen puts in thier super annuation fund.

Japanese projections actually say that they will probably need 30 million new workers in the next decade to keep the economy going... it's a huge problem that needs to be solved, and immigration is a good way if it can be worked out.

Unless they shift industries, e.g manufacturing to other white collar jobs like computer services which can be outsourced and if what the other guys said about most japanese students attend uni this is the msot likely case and will happen naturally so its possible that immigration is not the best solution since also it may lead to too much of an increase in population in the future.

In terms of legal immigrants, it's sad that so many of you are so against immigration. Being an immigrant myself (who unlike Dock's gf can speak perfect english:P), I strongly believe that immigration is a good thing. Canada has set a goal of increasing it's population by 1% a year via immigration and has come close to that in the past two decades. In fact Toronto is probably the most multicultural city in the world, probably the only major western city where white people are a visible minority (less than 50%). Growing up in such an environment makes you appreciate that people from all over the world, all races and all religions can get along in a thriving society.

Aust is alot like that and prides itself on multiculturalism

Secondly almost every single western nation is going to experience population declines in the next decade (except for the US with it's very high birth rate). Any economist will tell you that this is a BAD thing.

Not neccessarily it can actually lead to increased living standards because the capital avaiable per worker will increase. But there are many other factors to take in.

It basically means less workers will shoulder the responsibility of paying for the costs of the retired population (health care, pensions, etc.). It also means that the economy will shrink as less people will have disposible incomes to spend on things.

Workers wont have less disposible incomes (maybe in the extreme short run) because industries will shift to accomodate for the extra consumption that retired people do so basically instead of making lots and lots of computers they may make lots and lots of medical goods or something on those lines... if superannuation is handled right it shouldnt have such a drastic effect on the economy.

And it also means that many vital jobs will go unfilled because people aren't willing to take them as they are too accustomed to growing up comfortably (unlike many immigrants who'll take any job).

If you are UE you will take any job i know alot of uni graduates dont do what they learnt in thier field because simply they cant get a job in that field. Lack of workers isnt really a problem its lack of jobs that is the problem and cause recessions. (therefore in your scenario there isnt really a problem)

Finally there are the really highly educated immigrants, who at least in Canada and the United States disproportionally make up the engineers, scientists and doctors in those countries. As less and less people seem to want to go into science even in the US, immigration is an effective way to get the smartest people in the entire world doing research in your country and having your country reap the rewards of R&D.

Yea its known that migrants bring over thier special skills and expertise which benefits the country.

As with all complex problems there is no one answer. In my opinion the best solution is to get to the root of the problem. Only by relaxing import restrictions, lowering argicultural subsidies, pushing for more human rights and democracy in other countries, and massively increasing foreign aid can we stem the flow of illegal immigrants. These people leave their homes not because they really want to leave their families, but because they have no choice.
Yea thats what i said in the other post thats why when people complain that USA should only care about themselves and not police the rest of the world this is a good argument why USA should get involve and increase democracy!
Because eventually everything will comeback to you and Bush knows this!

(Hes in the immigrant trade ring.. shhh)

Anyway, i do not come off an estate, i've been brought up to take responsibility, my parents who pay near enough £1000 in taxes to fucking accomodate asylum seekers and immigrants, about £999.99 of it will go to them and then the rest will go to education.

My mum who spent nearly 1-2 years trying to get my little cousin who we now foster eye check ups, all because asylum seekers and immigrants come first.....this is why we complain, this is why we get pissed off.

If you want to come to the country, then fine i'm not bothered, but we should be treated equally, not, all you immigrants can have health check ups first, then you people last.

I guess they do it because the govt wants to encourage more migrants to come! In the long run its a good thing. If you got a problem with the method that the govt is trying to induce migrants then take it up with the govt it has nothing to do with the actual migrants.

not that much goes to the immigrants, they get a few pounds every day to live off- remember the money that goes to education will go to teachers' wages, books, and schools that are turning into 'technology' colleges get a grant from the government of £100,000. People on benefits get the most amount of your money- single parent, disability benefits to name just a couple and you can get up to £30 a week from these benefits.

People, however have a pretty warped view on these immigrants, and its amazing how people are influenced by what they see in the media.. OH NO! 20 people were caught in a truck, must be wanting free money off the government- do they fuck want free money from the government. They want a better life.

Tell you what, lets all move to their Countries and see how we feel without sufficient food, water and living in fear of your life every day.

Remember- its not just your parents that are paying taxes, practically everyone in the UK are paying taxes- and most people don't care about immigrants, its just a minority of ignorant yobs that are easily persuaded who do.

Your wrong again. The health system has always been fuked up with long waiting lists to see anyone. How do you make out nearly 100% of your parents taxes go to accomodating asylum seekers? back up these claims i know are incorrect. If you look at the annual bugest spent on accomadating them its shrunk over the past years and must not be more that 0.1/2% of the tax budget. A little different from 9999.99 from 1000 pounds.

To blame the inadquecies of the health system on other problems is niave and something i expect from children.

I dont trade anyone, I teach alot of immigrants computer skills in order for them to contribute to society and get jobs...fuking spongers eh?
