TW Mafia: Still Worthy

No gripe/halp, I did it to deter accusations later on if they come my way which my role could possibly cause. I'm definitely trying hard now to show how I'm eager for town to gain REAL information that can benefit us. I will explain this all at some stage. It is a pickle though I find myself in with this role.

Because my name directly corresponds to my role in this game, and the character's role in the movies. If I reveal my name, I'm role claiming.

Ok, to be fair, my name and role aren't exactly an easily assumed fit at first glance in ways that something like Batman Vigilante would be. The combo sort of makes sense if you squint real hard, but it isnt some white and black thing imo. It does make some sense, so its not completely out of the character, but it's not a total giveaway if I did give it out (which I won't do regardless).

That said, WillBy may have given scum fake claims, in which case scum Jessup would be trying desperately for people to know their fake name for town cred. If there really are fake claims, the only people a mass name claim would help even a little bit are scum.

Now, the question is whether Jessup is scum and knows what I just mentioned to be the case, or she's just that dumb. Its impossible to tell. I can usually read ixt a little bit, but Jessup does anti-town things regardless of alignment, so I have no idea with her.

I do know that if Jessup is town, there's a good chance she will never be NKed by scum and will stick around until the end. That didn't work so well for town last game.

On day 1 with nothing else to go on, the people who seem way too eager to claim things are the most suspicious to me. .......... IXT, Jessup, The_Paul, Field all giving me scum vibes.

As others have mentioned, per Willby's game description, just because a character is a "good guy" in your favorite comic, doesn't mean they are a good guy here. On day 1 with nothing else to go on, the people who seem way too eager to claim things are the most suspicious to me. Most likely they think if they name claim with a town sounding character, it will prevent N1/N2 investigations/blocks on them. Other than field, who is obvious scum. IXT, Jessup, The_Paul, Field all giving me scum vibes. Jessup even set us up with a plea to trust him when we learn more about his role, seems like pre-emptive scum defense to me..

The only thing I have been banging the drum over is against stupid and shady behavior actually. I simply asked if and others wanted to name claim too now that ixt had and how I feel doing so would not jeopardize your actual role reveal because of the way Willby introduced the flavor in this game. He said the movie isn't being followed and we are ALL superheroes and that guys like batman can be either town or scum. You acting like your name if you reveal it will make you look scummy is baseless and illogical to me. It is downright fishy actually. All of us have amazing powers if we are frikkin super heros lol.

Because you've been banging the drum for these name reveals despite being told it's a bad idea. Again, regardless of what I claim, you're not going to trust me, but it will give mafia members an unbelievable place to start looking for power roles. Maybe not every name will perfectly match the character in the marvel series, but mine does and that's enough for me. And since it's day 1 and there's very little to go on, your posts have been enough to convince me to keep my vote on you, even if it started as a random throwaway.

Role claiming on day 1 benefits only mafia members. You're being told at least a handful of names directly relate to the character role in the movies and this game. Name claiming will be the equivalent of role claiming for at least some. Banging this drum is not a town move.

You seem to ok with some terrible town strategy accepting bs auto votes on people due to shit talking and personal non game related things yet discourage simple name claims without role reveals. You are again conflating a name claim with a role reveal which is town obstructionist thinking.

Why you and kthx are so short sighted and unable to see the benefits and information that name claims will have for town is really quite perplexing. When do you suggest the names come out? You realize this is an eventual inevitability town will have to face I hope.

I've never role revealed day one personally and am not suggesting anyone do it unless it is vital to the game for some reason but I also am strongly against the path you seem to be suggesting doing a completely random vote. Scum loves to do random votes and create trains on town to get a head start with their numbers. Why are you thinking like a scum? You said this and did a BS random vote on me. If you can imagine a scenario where Dr. Strange is mafia in a marvel themed game, more power to you. I can also tell you that my character is a town role, and it directly corresponds to what the character is in the movie, so I'm basing these thoughts on more than just a batman example.

I actually understand where you're coming from here because like you say for yourself my role is town and the character name is an obvious town hero but just the way that Willby used the Batman example really seems to make it a toss up for me on who the scum members would actually be. In my eyes if someone claimed Batman i would say they must be town, same if someone claimed Superman/Spiderman/Iron Man etc... Willby's breakdown of the roles however have me with doubts as I would rope my perception of a Batman role alignment into the same category as the other heros i mentioned. If someone from the scum team could answer this question that would be fantastic on getting this game rolling.

I don't think claiming names is necessarily a bad thing but i also don't really see how much it can help either. Like it was listed Batman could be scum or town, giving us your name will simply just give us something to form a 50/50 speculation on. I think Willby did this intentionally for balance purposes, like he stated in his rules about pming and balance.

What could really help us out here instead is with your character, if you had to take a piss in public how hard would it be?
