i dunno, bring tequila- i'm actually very weak willed and pacifistic in person, but whenever i get some good buzz going i get nasty, so i'm told.

cylor, i could make a long and winding speech, but the short of it is this: if you're against our political system, and say it's bad, etc. - don't fight it. pick a side. i support bush half because i hate the more altruistic Left (i'm an individualist, sue me- or do you not havve any money, apparently the government welfare sucks eh, go start a business) and part because i know bush is one step closer to the decimation of the american political system.

in the 1970's, hippies wanted peace. what they got was the Cold War.
in the 1980's, punks wanted anarchy. what they got was reagan.
in the 1990's, the "crowd" (what are they? trendy kids, punks, emo, indie, grunge?) wanted less government. what they got was two iraq's.

don't go against the system- government co-opts it. already the "fuck the system!" mentality is being raped by popular music artists and such, just work within, my friend. :P

Those are all Republican problems.

Don't blame the whole government on the various protesting groups that you had no part in, and did not know what they were about.

I wasn't blaming anyone. And how can I not know what they were about, my best friend's dad is a vietnam vet, my grandfather was in the cold war era military (flew one of the high-slert B-52 nuclear bombers) and they were both around for Reagan. They like to recant their tales.

mccarthy trials was like in early 1950 and the whole communist expansion and nuclear threats began right after wwII ended

soviet union got scared and started competing for nuclear power after US dropped the bombz on japan

you could say it started at the yalta conference in 1945

I don't know what to say to this, really. People always say that you have to "work within the system" to change it. The problem with this conformity is that when you try to change the system from within, it's not you who changes the system, it's the system that will eventually change you. And there's usually nothing wrong with compromising a situation, but comprimising yourself in a situation is another story completely. So, no, I will not support any of the Republican canidates running for president (for some reason the other one calls himself a Democrat), nor could I care less about some irrelevant protest that pretty much changes nothing.

Most of the protesters were not doing illegal things. They were just holding signs and marching down the street.

Anyway Republicans are far worse, they kill abortion doctors, ruin nature, and kill tens of thousands of people in Iraq, and that's just in the last four years.
