Yeah, the Republicans have people much lamer media figures than Michael Moore. Sean Hannedy is quite possibly the worst human being ever. I think Michael Moore is kind of an asshole, and I wonder about all the same things you do, Eph. I never hear of him giving any of his millions of dollars to the proleteriat, he made no effort to make his movies accessible to the poor, as far as I know, it just seemed as if he just wanted to take money from rich democrats. His movies weren't made in a style that was accessible at all to people that disagreed, and I think he is so abrasive and unlikeable that a lot of swing voters might have actually changed their minds to vote Republican thanks to him. I'd love for the Democratic party to have a less-lame flagbearer, for sure. But, on the other hand, he is a lot better than Sean Hannedy and Michael Savage.

I think why America is in that list, has to do with their social security, the instoppable flow of illegals and just the mentality. Their mentality towards firearms (by which I am saying that their are a lot of wapenstores. I mean I totally don't know where the hell I can buy a gun in Belgium. I don't think that's a problem in the U.S.) isn't the problem at all, it's the combination of the other two problems that is.

The lot of you keep talking about the poor are killing to get rich. Why then are they killing other poor people? Wouldn't this be some form of class warfare? How come you rarely see a "rich" person killed and robbed? Not as often as poor on poor crime.

This is insane. I wont go so far as to say that Americans are all gun crazy, but you people have a serious problem to solve.

Look at it this way.

Here in Cyprus its obligatory for every male adult at the age of 18 to serve a two year term in the army. I have. So has everybody else. After your two years are up, you get put in the reserves and move on with your life. That is to say that mostly every male adult from the ages of 20 to approximately 55 have their own rifle at home. Its a G-3. Mine is in the closet behind me along with 200 rounds of ammunnition.

You'd think that people would die every week by these guns. Well they dont. In fact its a rare occasion when these guns are used in a criminal activity.
Some people in the States obviously have some weird gun loving mentality, but look at were it got you at. The NRA sure as hell isnt doing anything to help.

Solve your own problems first and stop telling everyone else what they should or shouldnt do.

I wasn't saying America was that dangerous, and I do not think that everyday out on the street could be your last. I was saying it is WAY to easy in america to get a gun. And it's because of their "constitutional right" to carry a gun. But in the meanwhile, this constitutional right is used to kill alot of people. And secondly, you americans (ya I am generalizing, but I also know not ALL americans are that way, and prob most americans on these board aren't) are being raised and taught to always be the best at everything, you have to be the best at sports, you have to be the biggest country. So much pressure is laid on kids in america to perform to be something, to be rich to whatever. That is the great american dream. It misses the most important things in life, like love, happiness, harmony. So what if you are not the best at something? Who freaking cares. You are good a sports, good for you, you aren't? So what.

And squeezer, poor people in the netherlands get money if they are without work, we have minimum wage, poor people get subsidised if they rent something. Etc. etc. etc. No one in the netherlands (as long as you register with the goverment etc.) will ever have to have hunger or whatever. But we aren't going around shooting people so we can be rich. And I am not saying we are perfect, I mean we go around shooting people for their opinion (k the killer who killed V. Gogh wasn't dutch originally) and politicans have to go and life under protection for saying all Foreign people should leave the country. So no, it's not all good and stuff here. But with us it's something as of late, and related to all the terrorism in the world, and not rooted deeply in our Culture. If you americans REALLY want to do something about all the violence and stuff, you would have to redo your whole culture.

I love guns. Have 2 and would like more. I think they're fun to shoot at the range, they are an important part of American history, and it's nice not to worry about someone breaking in at night in my fucked up neighborhood without bringing a knife to a what might be a gunfight. I mean, if I made a living breaking into the homes of strangers, I'd think it was stupid not to bring a weapon.
