  • Haha- americans.

    http://www.netcartoon.net/naaas/quiz.php

It's a funny site in general, not just because it's bashing people.
An american forwarded it to me, so don't call me anti-american for posting this link. (I'm not anti-american, I'm anti-american idiot. It's a 50/50 thing)

I loathe Americans. And yes, of course that's a generalisation, before all you second-year high school students start wetting yourselves. It's impossible to live life without generalising. Otherwise no one would trust doctors, and schools would be happy to employ convicted paedophiles. There are exceptions to every rule. The trick is to generalise only where conditions appear to be averagely valid - and in the case of Americans, that average includes an inflated sense of self-importance, a near total lack of grace or empathy, almost porcine self-interest, and blinkered nationalism. And that's the short list. I have met a handful of Americans who were warm, compassionate, self-deprecating and genuinely intelligent - but they are a handful. The majority of Americans remain loathsome, abhorrent and, truly nauseating. The US is the only country in the world where they should hand you the sickbag after you step off the plane.
    heh... funny.

And I hope this wasn't a repost, but i did a search on the link and nothing came up.

I had some beef last night. Good shit.
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

Ooh, ooh, can I make a thread that pokes fun at a country too? Or did I join the forums too late to do that?

            Oops, nevermind, dinner's ready.

Look at the results. "other countries" scored less than .7 better than americans.

then he makes a chart where the key shows yellow and white but the bars are yellow and red.

Funny because it makes sweeping generalizations that are wrong?

I don't call it funny, I call it sad that in this day and age of 'information' we still have people who refuse to let go of their biases and prejudices. The author says “I have met a handful of Americans who were warm, compassionate, self-deprecating and genuinely intelligent - but they are a handful.”
Out of how many has he met? Does he think that the reader is so stupid to not ask this? Does he think the reader so stupid not to ask for supporting evidence of his very biased and slanted opinion?

I guess he does, since apparently it has attracted some people to his that are willing to buy into his slop without thinking for themselves. I am sure that it also attracts like-minded morons who look for verification of their prejudices.

the part that made me giggle was the one about how we accept many other generalizations.

Ephemeral, relax, why get so defensive?

                    Each nation has a label.

Americans - self centered and dumb
British - Poor hygiene and drunks
                    Canadians - Polite, passive, eskimos
Asians - good at math, dog & cat eaters

I mean, how much of it is true? (well, in some cases, more than others..)
Generalizations take a percentage of people who happen to be very different individuals with one type of personality trait, and exploit it. As someone who has been to the US many times, I don't find Americans (IN GENERAL) to be very nice people... Americans walk with a destination, always having to prove that they are the greatest. Yup- it's a generalization, but it's also an observation.
In France, I met some of the kindest people, and I was amazed. I had no real previous misconceptions and didn't know what to expect when I got there (other than in Paris where I was expecting a very Voque atmosphere). Everyone was so mellow, "we'll get there when we get there", and I don't think I heard anyone raise their voice in the entire week I was there. I thought alot of Canadians were nice, I was shocked (and extremely impressed) at the hospitality I received over there. Does that mean all people from france are calm, nice people? No. But that's the impression I got.
Are all americans dumb, self-centered assholes? No, but you have people giving off that impression :P

I agree that you could generalise the British as drunks, but hygiene is generally good here, I have no idea where that came from.

I'm acutally going to go with:

                        Americans- self centered and dumb
British - Poor hygiene and snobbish
Canadians- passive and condescending when it comes to americans
Asians- good at math, Starcraft and ricing up their cars

But hey, I had beef for dinner so what do I know.

                          Don't forget:

Canada's economy would be in the shitter without us.

                          19/20

You have an impressive understanding of the world for an American. It is likely that you feel intellectually isolated in your home country, and often have to hide your opinions from others. Deep down, you realise that your country is the single biggest threat to world peace in modern times, but you have not yet summoned up the courage to emigrate.

This sentence has a ton of grace, and it doesn't ever hint at the idea of America being inferior to any and all other countries.

                            Kettle: "Hello, I'm Kettle."

                            Pot: "You're black!"

On a side note, I think I'm going to have me some raw meat for dinner. In fact, I think I'll eat the cow while it's alive so I know it's dying AS I eat it. Mmm. I'm thinking of starting with T-Bone section.

                            Finally.

did anyone else catch this? of course being self-deprecating is a good thing! without it, how else would moronic europeans make up for their mediocrity and insecurity?

...by condescending to americans no less or more intelligent than themselves, apparently. because, y'see, as long as you're self-deprecating your worthlessness is hunky dory
