As much as I agree with you on the racism issue, it's poor taste to use this tragedy as a political tool to support such a relatively minor issue. And before other people take this event and use it as an argument for gun control, they have to note first that the guns belong to his grandfather who was a policeman and they were his service munitions.

Race had little to do with the kid's motives, in my opinion. Don't forget that his first victim was his own grandfather. Apart from the fact that the shooter was a native, his profile fits that of previous school shooters. Any matters of race were incidental.

-Must be 'goth', since we all know 'goths' hate life and want everyone to die
-Must listen to heavy metal music because no one who listens to classical music could ever kill someone. However country music is another viable option(read: Texans)
-Must wear black, have chains, spikes and the like at least SOMEWHERE on one's body(spikey hair, chains on pants, etc), to further 'goth' out

I thought it was a little wierd that one of the community leaders said that it was the darkest day in their history, because I would have thought the whole "Indians hunted to the brink of extinction" thing would have been a little harsher, but what do I know.

Then they're not doing anything to help those aimless youngsters are they? I know not everyone can be helped... but this seems to say they're just giving them up as a lost cause? Their only other option I can think of is joining a christian group... and from what I've heard, those aren't neccesarily too much fun... (the hardcore fundamental ones anyway) Anyway, youth+religion really doesn't mix (unless its a seedy decadent cult)

I had a Pipe Bomb scare at University, the police came (see, we have no fancy army/ SWAT teams etc, we just got 12 police cars, a bunch of balding policeman, a fire engine, ambulance and a single army bomb truck) and it turns out to be a plain metal pipe, wrapped in newspaper, left outside the registry building which the police detonated just to be on the safe side (even though they knew it had nothing in it, the explosion managed to blow dust onto a nearby rubbish bin)

Then, in the University magazine classified was the following add:

Lost: metal pipe. Priceless family heirloom. Last seen wrapped in newspaper in a bin outside registry. Reward if found.

there was a bomb scare made yesterday at my school against people of the black color, which said that there would be a bomb to take out a lot of black people on march 24th.

i got all excited and started preparing my "i saw everything! it was so loud and sounded like thunder! but then i saw my fellow comrades being shot so i knew i had to do something" speech to the news people, but it was maad boring.

there were just a few extra police, about 2/3rds of the black people didn't show up, and about 20% of other people didn't come either
