Yeah, you have to wait for a party and join up with friends to level up, its part of the game. From lv10-75 is partying. Just cause at one point the WHM left really early doesnt mean you need to say the game sucks. You suck for quitting the game so early just of one bad time. Mithra THF? Are you fuckin kidding me? Mithras make the best THFs in the game because of their HUGE DEX. DEX is the basis of Sneak Attack and Trick Attack damage, along with their HUGE evasion.
First, you know nothing of my experience with the game so it would be a great time for you to stop attempting to insult me, because it's not working.

It wasn't a SINGLE session, if perhaps you had more common sense you would have gathered that as 'm sure other people had. I said some parts were fun, meeting people, doing quests, etc etc. Things that WEREN'T fun however for me outweighed the fun. And "so early" is a really bad blind insult, as I got my Mithra up to level 29 as Thf, level 20 as Warrior, Level 10 as Monk and level 12 as both Red Mage and White Mage, AS WELL AS had a male Hume Monk, a male WHM Taru and a female BLM Elvaan, so "quitting early" was hardly in the equation. Multiple times, let me say that again, MULTIPLE TIMES I had to wait 30+ minutes for a party, perhaps it was because of the server or perhaps it was because so called "friends" were far higher levels(they started with PC, I with PS2) and were too busy with themselves, though didn't stop for a second and think when it came to them wanting something from me. Also another thing I disliked was the gil system, because everything was so fucking expensive on the Titan server, some people were nice and partied with me to help gain me gil, or some bought me stuff, some also took me on quests and missions which I was very thankful for, hell one even took me from Windy all the way across the ocean to the Jungle when I was level 5, just so I could see the sights. I also had this thing called a job, with a very fucked up schedule of I work 2 over nights and 2 all days... so I couldn't give a good commitment to the game which also lead to it being less fun.

But good job at being an ass for no reason, 'll be sure to keep you in mind if I ever feel like laughing at someone's inherent stupidity to be said ass over the internet.

Y'know... if you were any stupider, I swear death by laughter would be a real medical occurance.

It was slow, the online economy was over-inflated, I did like the auction house ... .... yeah. Graphically it wasn't up to par with anything else out there. When I played it, there was no real indicator of where to go for the quests except for some obscure areas. Hopefully they fixed some of that stuff by now.

One thing I hated was that I picked up the guide(friend recommended I do) and started reading through the quests, and when I went to go do them they were like "no, you can't, your fame sucks" and I was like "wtf... no change in fame for the last 6-10 hours of work over so many days?!". Though I did enjoy fishing quite a bit, and synthing was fun too, when crystals didn't shatter. I was actually really happy when I started farming in the Ho Ruins near Windy for Bone Chips and Onions, as well as meager amounts of gil.

you think waiting 30mins is bad? try waiting hours for a party with awesome gear and not getting partys just because your a melee tarutaru, then talk to me. games wont be easy, everything is expensive in the game because its meant to get you involved. you cant just expect to play a single session for 1hour and gain so much like 10levels and 500k for example. ofcourse you have to put time into it, so dont bitch about it that you had work yadda yadda yadda, if you did, dont comment about the whining about waiting so long for parties etc. inherent stupidity? sure im stupid, because im saying the facts and your bitchin

Well if you've played the game for as long or as much as you've claimed, you would know full well the wait times that come with being a melee taru character, or pretty much anything that's not cookie-cutter. I agree that FFXI is supposed to be a major timesink, but I don't think that everything is expensive just to get you involved. Gilsellers have inflated the market far beyond the prices for some things than they were 2 years ago, and are still steadily rising.

Sure he didn't get to a high or even medium level (sorry SM, but 29 is just scratching the surface, 65+ is high lvl) , but again he's entitled to his opinion. I would actually think that because he only got that far that you would understand how little of the good and the bad that he encounted, and thus give him a break. He went through the dunes at least twice, and leveled up 2 mage jobs to 10 (which are a pain even with food, which I doubt he knew about). He had to deal with soloing and incompetent parties, which sadly is what usually makes up the first 25 levels of your job in FFXI. Khazam does have it's share of idiots but not in the quantity of the dunes or Quifim.

SM, what I think Broly was unsucessfully trying to get across, is that while it does have it's negative points (sometimes 3 hours of lfg if you are a 40+ melee, inflated prices, lonely idiots who make themselves feel better by being an ass online, etc etc), it's a truly immersive and detailed game. There is alot of quests and endgame stuff to look forward to, but as you can guess, it's an MMO. If you don't have a couple of friends or a linkshell, this game will just not nearly be as fun as it could be for you.

Oh, and buying the guide was a bad idea, smack the friend who suggested that. Patches and updates render the guide useless so fast it will make your keyboard spin.
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

I agree it was a really immersive game, no doubt about that(I went to... I can't remember the name... it was a place near Sandy) JUST to watch when it rained. I loved it when I had a chocobo and I had aspirations of becoming a NIN/THF, NIN/WAR, RNG/THF, SUM/RDM, DRK/WAR and DRK/SUM(just so I could have a Dark Knight that could call on Ifrit), but I couldn't devote enough time to it, and when I could, it felt like it was all for nothing. I camped Leaping Lizzy for 8 straight hours with some Linkshell members(the Linkshells I were in unfortunately were filled with assholes and bitches) and we didn't get to even fight it once because there were like 15 other small-full parties camping it as well. We also spent an hour an a half making up a full alliance plus escorts to take on the Sandy Eco quest, and we were doing really good until some jerk off in our alliance deceided he was going to activate the boss while we were still clearing out goblins. Then the Windy Garrison quest where they pleaded with me to join, because I was the only THF in the area at a high enough level(I was level 23, Garrison drops you down to 20) so that they could get a better chance of item drop... I died for them the first time(first time they failed) and the second time I didn't get jack shit for an item, even though I was told they would give me at least one thing. And yes LB I knew about food... I loved me some Apple Pies  Also, being raped by 5-6 Goblins in the Jungle because your party that you took an hour to get together deceides to just suddenly break up wasn't too fun... and then being trained(as in enemy train, not like training a person in something) in the Jungle and the Dunes by random assholes AND Linkshell members... and all that onto top of people experiences I had and FFXI went from being cool and fun(I actually had more fun between levels 1-10) to being well... AOL/online drama FF style.

If I get a 360, I may go back to FFXI... but like I said I can't devote the time it requires. When I had fun I had fun, but when I didn't have fun it was horrible. You know it's bad when you love the game, love running around and killing and getting items and doing quests, but because of people you want to just turn off your PS2 in the middle of something. Reason I say people so much was because well, one of those said people was a gf of mine(though she had moved into ex gf around the time I got into FFXI, but we remained frriends until she started treating me COMPLETELY different on game than she did off) and a "best friend of mine" who incidently... went out with the ex gf.

And no, I never made it to level 65+, but I wanted to one day... just didn't work out. 'm glad if you like the game, but for me, it wasn't a huge amount of joy in the long run.

JUST to watch when it rained.
                    La Thiene. Yea it's nice.

                    I loved it when I had a chocobo and I had aspirations of becoming a RNG/THF, SUM/RDM
                    >_>;;

DRK/SUM(just so I could have a Dark Knight that could call on Ifrit),
                    :fear:

Job combo's are usually party-orientned, and a dark knight is a melee, while SMN's are usually party buffers (post 40). Not only would you not have the mp/level requirement to call/keep out Ifrit for any useful purpose until maybe lvl 40 (I think group warcry is lvl 20 smn, which means lvl 40 drk for you), it wouldn't even be that useful because by then you would need your mp for stun or the absorb spells. I know some job combo's seem cool at first glance, but again, this is a group-orientented game and you have to think about how much benefit you'll be to them, before how cool it would be to fight as a dark knight with ifrit by your side. I guess soloing an NM or something like that might be fun, but I've haven't played SMN or DRK far yet.

but I couldn't devote enough time to it, and when I could, it felt like it was all for nothing. IMO, camping NM's is the devil. I never do it anymore because like you said, it's a waste of time. This is just my opinion, because I've had friends who have gotten rich off of it, but I just can't stand waiting around for hours with the possibility of it getting claimed by someone else or not getting the drop. Lizzy was always a pain because the boots sold for 300k, but they've patched that up making her drop rare/ex(meaning you can't sell it), so tons of people have stopped camping it for money.

We also spent an hour an a half making up a full alliance plus escorts to take on the Sandy Eco quest, and we were doing really good until some jerk off in our alliance deceided he was going to activate the boss while we were still clearing out goblins. Eco and Garrison is fun with people who know what they're doing, a shame you had bad luck with that.

And yes LB I knew about food... I loved me some Apple Pies
Yea that's a bad thing- you don't want more MP pre-10 as a mage job. When lvling a mage job to 10, you want it over asap and you want food that will give you STR or DEF or an ATTK boost. Tacos give a good amount of HP, VIT (more def) and other stuff, and Meat Mithkabobs are good for STR. Basically you'll want to use melee food since you get shitty spells pre 10 and will be forced to melee for the most part anyway. God help you if you try to lvl taru blm pre 10. Worst solo'er ever.

Also, being raped by 5-6 Goblins in the Jungle because your party that you took an hour to get together deceides to just suddenly break up wasn't too fun... and then being trained(as in enemy train, not like training a person in something) in the Jungle and the Dunes by random assholes AND Linkshell members... and all that onto top of people experiences I had and FFXI went from being cool and fun(I actually had more fun between levels 1-10) to being well... Like I have said before, playing with people that know what they're doing and friends makes the experience tons more enjoyable. If you do ever come back, I'll hook you up with a WP to the Cerebus server (my server) and get you a linkpearl into my linkshell. They're good people, and we will be able to help you past most of the shitty low-level stuff. That offer is out to most of you cool cats who want to try out FFXI, just PM me.

No no, I was never going to use DRK/SUM in a party.. I was going to do it JUST for the satisfaction of being able to summon Ifrit with a Dark Knight. Why <_< on RNG/THF? Or was RNG/NIN better?

Yeah... La Thiene was immensly beautiful.

Well even before the patch that gimped rangers, ranger thief was a bad idea because all it really brought to the table was TH, which even then isn't that useful to rangers. You wouldn't need SA because you would be saving your TP for ranged WS's, and the agi boost would be minimal. RNG/NIN allows you to do dmg and avoid taking hits, RNG/War allows you to bring dmg in spades.

I rented the movie "Steamboy" the other day, directed by the same guy who did the movie "Akira". I thought it was an alright movie, visually it was excellent, though. But, I remember when I first turned on the DVD, they rolled some trailers. The first trailer was the trailer to Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children, and I gotta say it looked fucking awesome.

I know, all movies that do with games suck. Well, except Mortal Kombat. Now, why did Mortal Kombat not suck? Because the movie was about the game .. a fighting tournament with Earth's greatest fighters vs Shang Tsung's Underworld combatants. It was what you wanted it to be.

Most 'Video Game Movies' are loosely based on the setting or something, but they try to go for a serious movie that really doesn't connect with the game they were doing.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was victim to this one, having ... well ... nothing to do with Final Fantasy at all. This one will tie into what we all know and love and I think will be a much greater success.

Well no, I think Spirits Within had something to do with Final Fantasy, just as all the games aren't the same nor based on the same story, the only thing linking them is Gaia. Spirits Within I think moved too far away from the Fantasy part, and instead went into Sci-Fi. Any of the FFs with Neotechnology and magic are Sci-Fi Fantasy(or Sci-Fantasy if you will) but Spirits Within went way too much into just being Sci-Fi. It was nice to see an original movie and not just a rehash of an already present game, though it didn't do as well as people hoped. That and I don't think they could have done a movie like Advent Children back then because it might have been too early. I am awaiting Advent Children like the rest of the gaming world... and hoping one day for a Zelda movie.

                            EDIT:
Just had this idea... would be IMMENSLY cool if Peter Jackson pulled out and did one of the medival FFs... Pete Jackson + FFVI or IX would be really cool.

"There are those who said this day would never come. What have they to say now?"
                            .Halo.

Y'know... if you were any stupider, I swear death by laughter would be a real medical occurance.

If they renamed FF: Spirits Within as Starship Troopers 3, few people would have batted an eye and those who did would have asked: "there was a Starship Troopers 2?"

Sadly, yes, I was there when we got that into work. If you wish to continue your Starship Troopers experience, watch the CG tv series "Roughnecks" which follows the people from the movie in more adventures in space. I found it alot better than I originally thought it would have been.
