Don't forget that Cheney is still on holiday, and Condaleeza also went and watched the Monty Pyhton show Spamalot.
Btw, pyhton is spelt wrong because it hates the word pyhton. Try it, I dare you.

Once again I'm hopping in too late in this thread, but:

The question of demographics has been raised in the media as news media video and photographs showed primarily black citizens stranded in New Orleans. After decades of white flight, New Orleans is two-thirds black and more than 25% live at or below the poverty line. Within the city itself, the poorest tended to live in the lowest parts that are most vulnerable to flooding. Therefore, it rapidly becomes clear to some that the seemingly large proportion of African-Americans in relation to European-Americans left in New Orleans can be attributed to economical and sociological factors.
Commentator Lou Dobbs of CNN stated, "We should put in context, it seems to me also, that the city of New Orleans is 70% black, its mayor is black, its principal power structure is black, and if there is a failure to the black Americans, who live in poverty and in the city of New Orleans, those officials have to bear much of the responsibility."

The U.S. Census Bureau estimates the 2004 New Orleans population to be 20.0% white and 67.9% black.
Living in a black-majority city myself (as well as living in Louisiana, and talking to the kids coming up from New Orleans), I don't think that Bush was being "racist" at all. It was a huge fucking disaster, one that noone expected (As you guys said, Bush headed to a party, Condi bought some shoes - this was BEFORE the levees broke). There was no racism by Bush, just the fact that noone can do shit. I work at LSU-Shreveport and Centenary, both are refugee centers, and it's chaos. It's majority black, but some of the people speak this not-quite-french dialect, and even more speak Spanish. And these are just the people that got out of Nawlins - as the info stated, alot of people don't own cars, because NO is like a spicier, less emo version of NYC, and then there are poor people as well. People accuse the mayor of racism because he didn't provide busses and a mandatory evacuation, just a "you're on your own" warning. Well, once again, NO has been hit before plenty by storms, and it's worked in the past. If they had known what Katrina was capable of, by all means, none of this would have happened, and everyone would have been out.

It's easy to criticize someone else after the fact, but seriously, they were doing what they thought was in the best interest.

I'd like to meet Kanye and give him a big "Fuck You", I don't see him giving two shits about New Orleans save to use it to attack Bush.

              His new album's good though.

Even then, Katrina did relatively little damage, it was the levees that caused most of the flooding. That wasn't expected.

Once again, it's a hurricane state. People chose not to leave because hey, 'canes happen alot.

First, I'm not sure how some guy having a mental meltdown on camera, qualifies as having balls. Three quarters of it was incomprehensible, and I doubt it has less to do with being choked up, than by being not so eloquent to begin with, but that's my opinion.

Second, the finding/looting shit. The photographer said, the "finding" photo, was of people finding various food in the flooded STREET, after floodwaters destroyed a convenience/grocery store, and all kinds of shit from the store was floating around in the surrounding water.

Third, that quote is completely and totally incorrect. As a news organization, they have a responsibility and goal to be held up to whatever ideals the people that own the news agency want. A news editor of "The IHateWhitePeople Times" is only held to the standards his company wants, and libel laws.
A news agency is just like McDonald's. They're free to serve whatever it is they want.

It's kind of retarded to be arguing over the fucking caption of a picture, when people are still dying.

There's a difference between corporate responsibility and journalistic responsibility---as journalists, a news organization should operate with integrity, since they have so much influence on our society. As a corporation, it's like you said, free to serve whatever it is they want.

Operative word being "should". I never said it "is" what happens, hence my example of Murdoch's Newscorp, and their corporate resonsibility to their stockholders. Additionally, the role of the media has blurred more toward the line of "entertainment" than "journalism".

Next time I'm near a store and the city I'm in floods, I'll make sure to wait until the store collapses so I can "find" the stuff that was inside.

Don't get me wrong, I'm in no way against any of the looting. In fact, if I'd been there I probably would've begun looting as soon as possible, and I'm a big tubby white guy. I think it's pretty shitty to even get mad at people looting from grocery stores, or trying to find water, or what have you.

My point is just that to take two entirely seperate instances, and use the quick caption from the photographers to start screaming racism, without even looking at the fact that they are seperate, is kinda stupid. Not to mention, when the subjects of said photos all happen to be Americans, in chest high water, needing help, while said argument is going on.

It illustrates near perfectly how easily too many people are offended and don't even bother to look at the fucking content, nowadays.

The rape gangs and killing gangs are different than the looters, however. Kill those guys, ignore the people looting. Wal-Mart has insurance for a reason.
