No, not all christians do. This is a YEC (young earth creationist) belief. Those are the dummies who think evolution, dinosaurs, and carbon 14 dating is a consipracy orchestrated by Satan.

Most christians realize the bible is subject to interpretation, and that evolution and the existence of God are not mutually exclusive.

I would think you would have considered yourelf as Agnostic. That's just my take. Relegion to me is within ones self. It amazes me that a majority of relegions will preach of how open they are and that everyone is welcome, yet on a holy day most relegions will charge you to enter or ask for a mandatory donation...in other words...to belong you have to pay?

Such a business it is, and it definately, regardless of which organized relegion it is, should be taxed as all business's are.

Being agnostic, I can beleive in most things that are of common sense and of good moral value, yet I do not have to pay to belong as most relegions will do to their...as I call them "Subscribers".

And what relegion would go to such extremes as to hide and move there leaders to avoid public criticisms and legal actions, due to there repeated molestations/rapings of underaged children. This is justified? I feel that it is in this certain relegion that I will not name, as their leaders have done nothing but cover up these issues and events to avoid scandal. If they where true to there word and faithful to their god, they should admit their guilt and come forward.

Organized Relegion to me is just an excuse for hypocrates in life to say they are now ok and exempt from any wrong doings in the past. Thats just my take and not directed at everyone.
May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

          1) If you have mental retardation will you be able to get into heaven? It's not their fault they can't understand this concept of god, should they be punished?

          2) Does God laugh on his cloud when cancer, AIDS, and other viruses kill his "children"?

          3) Why do some humans think they are so special that they didn't come from primates? Why can't all of earth be God's little Sim Farm? We are just an awesome mutation of a monkey. When we started evolving God thought it would be awesome to dash in another part to our soul.... reason.

          4) When our planet dies off because we didn't take care of it, will God be angry?

          5) How is God perfect?

          6) Are mediums, fortune-tellers, or whatever real? Or are they sly users of the Barnum Effect?

          7) Final question. I love my pet iguana, but why can't he have a soul?

Why do christians call regard jesus as god, when he's a son of god? Why the hell during christmas time do you have santa clause everywhere? He ain't no god he has nothing to do with shit. Yet during christmas everyone seems to teach their children about santa, and screw your jesus dude over. And wtf is up with the opus dei group? They abuse their women, they wear this little waist peircing belts, and they do crime. (According to the book The Da vinci code which has alot of true facts in it.) How come animals don't have souls? In my opinion hinduism is better.... ok maybe i'm a little biased, but yeah. Everyone even a freaken cockroach has a chance to go to heaven in hinduism. (The different levels of heaven i meant.....)

In my mind, Christianity is just another tool to control people and justify wars and other cruel things. Although, I have a few questions for you.
If god is so almighty, why does he create miracles and make up stories instead of just speaking to each one of us, or if he does, why is he so unclear and vague. Why do people have to spread his word, is he incapable of doing so himself? If there existed a powerful god as they say why doesn’t he use his powers to make all people believe in him, I think he could do it with ease.

I hope this turns into a good discussion for many of you.

Anyway, I want to quote a Surah from The Holy Qu'ran. I feel it's very important to mention it, because this is how I feel about these kind of threads:

                Al-Kafirum

                Bismillaah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem
                Qul yaa ayyuhal kaafiruun
                Laa 'abudu maa t'abuduun
                Walaa antum 'aabidunna maa a'abud
                Walaa ana 'aabidun maa 'abadttum
                Walaa antum 'aabiduuna maa a'abud
                Lakmu deenukum wa liya deen

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Say: Oh you who turn away
I do not worship what you worship,
nor do you worship what I worship.
And I will not worship what you worship,
Nor will you worship what I worship.
Your way is yours, and my way is mine.

It's self explanitory because the words of Allah (subhannawattallah) are perfect against the Kafirs.

Ok, let's see if I can explain some of this. God in Christianity isn't a single person, it's a three person entity - the Trinity. It is made up of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Three persons, yet one God. So saying that Jesus is God is correct, and so is saying that he's the Son of God.

As for Santa, that's just a media thing. Why do we have the easter bunny? And why does the bunny have eggs? It's just a marketing thing.

How come animals don't have souls? Simple. In Genesis it says that people were created in God's image. Hence, we have souls and original sin. Animals weren't created in God's image, so they don't have souls, and they can't really sin.

Again, 1 Corinthians 2:13: "The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned."

Personally I am against using religion (any religion) as a form of oppression. God is trying to speak to each of us... this question is perhaps the hardest one to answer because we each make our own testimonies. God is waiting for you, but its like a handshake - he can't grab your hand, and even if He did wouldn't you resist? You'll have to extend your hand as well. And to do so you'll need to ask Him, "hey, I want to know you better, how do I do that?"

                      1) I sincerely hope God sees them through their situation. I don't know how to answer this properly without offending someone, but I think that its the people who can make the concious decision to NOT be with God that will be without Him. So yes, retards will go to heaven.

                      2) No, but pain is God's microphone to the world that something isn't quite right. If everything was perfectly awesome, we wouldn't need God.

                      3) The evolution debate is very controversial. I.E. George Bush wanting alternatives taught in school to darwinism. But your question regarding Adam and Eve is very interesting because where Adam and Eve as we know them? The cases for either christianity and darwinism are very strong. Please refer to this site for more information: http://bredelin.bol.ucla.edu/Topics/Evolution/

                      4) No.

                      5) God is perfect in holiness, love, mercy and justice. He is unstained by the sinfulness of humanity and unswayed by the toungues or actions of people.

                      6) Divination is a sin. No human is supposed to know the future. I actually used to be a pretty good palm reader before I became christian and learned it was wrong, but I still do it... just for fun, that is.

                      7) Your pet iguana was not made in the image of God.

I believe Easter (or at least, the Easter bunny part of it) is descended from pagan ceremonys worshipping a pagan god of fertility, I think. A pagan god, at least. The chocolate, and everything... that has its roots in capitalism. They may have made decorated 'eggs' before chocolate, who knows?
Since traditions are hard to throw away, this ceremony was converted to a christian ceremony, over time.

I know you could easily refute this question, but why are many Christians hypocrites in their everyday lives?

Also, why does the Bible cost money to obtain while books on Buddhism are free?

We're hypocrites because we're imperfect. Accepting Christ reveals our sins, and changes our hearts slowly... nothing is instant.

There are plenty of free bibles, I mean, on campus there are places I can go get one right now. Do you need a bible? want me to send you one? (just gimme s&h). The thing is I have the really pretty looking NIV one with the leather cover and whatnot, so i guess I got what I paid for.

Hi Bioture, I would like to first make the disclaimer that while I am an atheist I don't see the point of engaging in extended battles over it and I certainly don't visit religious threads for the purpose of having a flamewar, etc. However, out of curiosity I have always wondered (didn't bother to actually try to find the answer though): according to the Bible (from my memory), God made Adam and Eve, etc. they were expelled from the Garden of Eden and so on. Then they had two sons, Cain and Abel. Cain kills Abel, then he goes out to the land of Nod and knows his wife. The question is, where did the wife of Cain come from?

Yeah........ that sort of allows us to stomp all over animals any way we want.
That is majour factor that made this culture so flawed in the first place. We are killing the world, and killing ourselves. It's all good, that your believing in god, but the whole animals don't have souls, and cannot be liberated thing doesn't work with me. I grew with the belief in afterlife, and if you sinned like shit you might be a fly and get stomped, if you were an angel then you will move on to the first stage of heaven. It's very complicated yet, it gives reason for people to be considerate to everything, and everyone.
