not as bad here but the Unionist (DUP + UUP) are quite like *cough* rednecks so though the law will allow gays form leagally binding "partnerships" instead of marriage, the Unionist councilers aren't letting them use the wedding/registration room to do so ... Then the Nationalists (SDLP and Sinn Fein) will argue against the Unionists (nothing new there) and say they should be allowed (pretty sure they are heavily out numbered in Lisburn council though )

It's not suprising, but yes...that must suck.

It's a shame, really, because I really like the people I have met when visting my family in Texas. I also really like some of the culture of Texas. All of my relatives on my mom's side live there, so I have spent time in The Woodlands, San Antonio, Austin, Houston, Corpus...the people are very polite---much more than here in California. Californians are totally rude in comparison.

On the other hand, it's much more rude to hate fags just for being who they are, than it is for not being friendly to people on the street.
