Maybe you're right about the pendejo def. But puta is whore/slut/hooker in spanish, but it's got the "a" on the end being for the femenine form. Puto is not the same thing.

I've never heard puto being used as a term for gay. I've always heard it as maricon---and I've heard some people use puñeta and mariposa also (but those are both regional slang terms. Mariposa means butterfly, and I think puñeta refers to the limp-wrist stereotype.)

The real issue in Texas is trying to convince everyone that marriage in the church and in the government are two seperate things. Gays should've pushed for something like a "not-in-the-church union". I doubt we would've shot that down but now that prop 2 passed, its too late for that. The thing is, I've never even heard of a homosexual rally in Texas(I live in TX). If they never speak, no one will ever hear them. Of course the media is generally conservative so the small ones might be ignored, but if its big enough it would make it onto the news, internet, etc.

On a positive note though, they did at least include this in the bill:
