I agree Geek. Hey, has anyone else installed OSX on Intel yet? I have, but the motherboard I had wasn't all tricked out with Apple-happy hardware so I didn't have a working ethernet connection. Overall, it was a cool experience. Can't wait for the gold release.

Why do people buy macs?

I've been hearing that Apple might announce an earlier than expected released date on the x86 Macs. I think the move to intel will be an interesting one, considering how Apple doesn't really have a choice but to drive prices down. I'm curious to see how much of an effect this will have on the competition (Windows and Linux) and how smooth the transition will be.
ConcreteSchlyrd, I managed to install OSX on my laptop but it ran real sluggish and I couldn't get my ethernet card or sound card to work. I really like Mac's GUI but I feel it might be too hardware intense, of course we'll just have to wait and see what happens when it goes gold. Personally though, I'm already happy running Ubuntu.

Apple's UI is 99.9x better than windows. This whole Disk Images thing and docking and ejecting disks that don't really exist... Argh. I guess it's cool... I don't know I'm torn.Originally posted by Jeenyusssometimes i thrust my hips so my flaccid dick slaps my stomach, then my taint, then my stomach, then my taint. i like the sound.

Conc, no more OpenFirmware, and no BIOS either. The new Mactels are using EFI. I know Vista will be able to boot with EFI, but can XP? The rest are surely out of the question, though. I think it even takes the 64 bit edition of XP to have a shot at booting with EFI.
Also they're using the GUID Partitions which again is gonna limit you to 64 bit edition of xp.
I'm willing to bet that someone has gotten an imac and is out there fucking around with it right now, though.

Somewhat funny irreverent write up for those who aren't *completely* under the power of Jobs' reality distortion field.

I use macs for all the noble reasons of stability and professional software (final cut pro > all), but the truth is, Joe SUV driver buys macs because they are trendy consumerist whores :]
There are people who buy macs because they are better.
There are people who buy macs because they are more expensive.
I guess either reason is valid if it makes you happy, but I'd like it if apple would expand their target audience beyond geeks and yuppies.SIGNATURE PROTEST: KEEP THE SHORT FFS
