I think the Stars have more Finns on their roster than any other team, therefore we win.

I love nhl. try to watch at least 2 games a week but its hard cos most of the games are inthe middle of the night for me
(sucks that Sweden have like no "good" defensemen except Norström,Öhlund and Lidström cos they are all injured or gone from the olympics for other reasons )

my msn name says it all:
Dear Toronto Maple Leafs: Welcome. It's nice to see you. We have been waiting for you all season. Sincerely, 9th Place.

Don't talk about choking in the playoffs when it doesn't look like the leafs are gonna make it into the playoffs.

Talk about a crappy 1st line. Who can play on the left side of Sundin? wait, Sundin is horrible this season as well. Domi's nothing now, with 1 goal in what, 37 games?

Now that Macabe's out, leafs have no D. Maccabe and maybe Tucker are the only real talents they have, and maybe some of the younger players, like allison. Belfour's past his prime, though he's still better than average. It's just that the leafs have no blueline and are not producing enough goals, yet JFJr is probably not gonna do anything about it. You better hope Maccabe and Tucker come back soon, because O'neill has been dissapointing, Klee is complete shit, who the hell is Berg, and Belak is now officially a wuss.

So to sum up, the good: Maccabe, Tucker, Belfour, Kaberle, (maybe Sundin)
          the OK: Allision, Lindros,Steen, O'neill.
the Ugly: pretty much everyone else.

Pat Quinn has a lot of work to do..

The leafs are playing like shit, I agree. I also agree that with the current trend, we wont make the playoffs.

but why do Senators fans have to try so hard? I actually like the rivalry we had with the Canadiens. The Senators are having a great season, but like others have already stated, its a bit to premature to be rubbing it in.

Just a few thoughts: Ottawa, like the rest of the Eastern Conference have mediocre or terrible records with Western Conference teams. Also when your top line is out of the lineup the rest of the team doesn't pick up the slack. One quick example is the San Jose game, another is the Boston game. And of course lets not forget Heatley's return to Atlanta, and their loss in Montreal. What do you have to reply to this one? The refs or injuries? If you do, I'd say you sound like some Leafs fans. Oh I know, you're going to tell me that it was only a few games, well, I'm just trying to prove how stupid it is to be doing this even before the Olympic break! Who knows what the standings will look like come April.

                Volcs,

Do you really think they'll let this style of hockey fly in the playoffs? I highly doubt it. Playoffs are all about grinding out victories not diving when some dude hooks you a little. I doubt the NHL will call the game the same way during playoffs. I agree with you that the Senators are better than the Leafs, but you really need to calm down because regular season means squat. Sure the Sens are really skilled but I think they lack the determination, heart and character needed to win those playoff games.

Hasek pwns the Leafs, too bad he didnt defeat Belfour in '99 ... so Volcs, is Ottawa going to resign both Chara and Redden? lets hope so, so they can run all over the Leafs for the next few seasons :P .. besides, its the Leafs that choke more in the playoffs with a couple runs going into the Conference finals like 4 times in the last 12 seasons and they get their ass kicked. I personally dont feel that Ottawa will win the cup, my bet is with Calgary but i do believe it'll be a Sens vs Flames finals this year

Oh yes, the Leafs are bigger playoff chokers than the Sens. After all, winning 7 playoff rounds in the last 6 seasons is much worse than the Sens' history of winning only 3 rounds in the same period.

Hell, the Sabres and the Pens have each missed the playoffs the last 3 seasons and they both still managed to win 4 playoff rounds over that span.

terrible record? umm.. we've lost 10 games in TOTAL, I don't consider that terrible.. and most of our losses were entirely circumstancial.
When our top line is out of the lineup, we don't pick up slack? with our top line out, we won 50% of our games. That's without 3/4 of our top forwards, one of their replacements, and our top D... yeah, I'd love to see the leafs without that number of players try to go 50%.. oh wait, losing 7/8 games without TWO top players. Ha.

Yeah, sure my replies sound predictable, that's because they are.. when any team is without the players we were lacking, it's impossible to play at the normal level. I think our record speaks for itself.
And who knows what the standings will look like? My bet is leafs will be in 9th place

I think that would be an awesome final to watch! I'd love for Ottawa to take the cup, but I'd be happy with any of the Western conference Canadian teams aswell

Look at the typical leaf fan, reliving the glory of old times.

Were you one of the pathetic fans listening on Thanksgiving when they replayed the Leafs defeating the Sens in playoffs on the radio, knowing that they won't be seeing them beat them again?

even if the sens don't take the cup this year, or next year.. I'm pretty sure it will becoming before the Senators team hits it's 40th birthday. :P

Don't blame me for taking a look at the "glory of old times", as if the last 6 seasons is too far back to be considered relevant, but it was Profalik's pro-Sens post that first discussed the playoff history of the Leafs in the last TWELVE years. My post was a direct response to his. It's just laughable for him to say that the Leafs are bigger playoff chokers when, in recent history, it's the Sens who have had trouble performing in the playoffs, and that includes three seasons in which they were division leaders and expected to do well.

                                Volcs,

Read my whole post before just responding with are you joking? What kind of evidence do you have to say that these bunch of senators will not be the same ones who lose in the playoffs not because they are outskilled but because they lack character and determination?
Also I'm thinking the Senators will not do well in the playoffs because there wil be more clutching and grabbing, there is no way they will call the playoffs as tight as the regular season. Another reason is look at the Senator's record in games where they score less than 4 goals it is not impressive as you think. Generally playoffs games are low scoring and a grind. Sure Hasek is a huge boost for you guys, but I still think you're getting too carried away. They aren't going very far. So be happy with owning the regular season just like the Colts and Steelers did last season.
