I found proof that god hates gays....Pat Robertson said that because Disney World - Orlando hosts a gay pride day parade, that this is why the Hurricanes of past have hit Florida. If Pat Robertson says it, it must be from the word of God. Pat says he and god talk every day. Now lets close our eyes and pray!

Amazing to think that Robertson was a Republican Presidential canidate years back and he did get a lot of votes...should have been a warning sign to politics of today.

I have seen some of them before, but can't recall their location. Mostly it's talking about sexual deviancy being punished. It's mostly New Testament and I would guess Book of Revelations stuff.

The New International Version (NIV) is more explicit in referring to homosexuality than the King James Version (KJV).

But if you look up the following two passages, there is a direct reference to homosexuality. There are other passages that mention the sin of being gay, but I forgot where. I'm sure there are some devout Christians around here that actually read the fairy tale they are told to shove down people's throats---maybe they can tell you.

Of course, in that same passage, it also denounces a bunch of other stuff that right-wing, NeoCon Christians around the world enjoy doing---like cheating on their wives, corporate theft, banging hookers and getting blowjobs, getting hammered off alcohol, the competetive urge to obtain as much money as possible---etc. Curiously, they just focus on the gay thing, though.

I agree in respects to this, but the focus of gay marriage only just came about again in the U.S. political forum in the past month. This was not the first time and not the last, but with so many other pressing issues of which point to the good that most religions preach in helping one another, the focus, regardless of political or relgious group one sides with, all play a part in this.

This can not be singled out as right or left wing beliefs, as well as pointing a finger at someone without looking at ones self in the mirror. Maybe the problems such as this can be looked at with a more defining idealism once we can overcome the sheer fact that helping one another in a moral & humanitarian means should be first, and then we can sit down and debate such a contrverial topic.

No, you're absolutely right. But the reason I single out the neo-conservatives is because unlike their Democratic rivals, they are the ones who focus on that particular issue during election time.

I don't understand what is so hard about live and let live. For me, I don't care about what people wanna be, or believe in, or do. ASLONG as they don't invade other peoples privacy and rights doing so. If you are gay, good for you, if you are a christian, good for you, moslim? Good for you. Etc. Just don't force your opinions on me or anyone else if they don't want that to happen.

I am on the same page as you, but this is what happens when the hands of religion become entwined with the politics that govern a nation. Not just Christianity, but look at the countries now living under Islamic Law, I also say live and let live, but it seems that many whom hold power or influence it, hold their own religious beliefs to be the only truth for all.

That is the beauty of a secular state. You're free to do what you want given that you are not a burden to me or the whole society. The problem is while in most Western countries the writen laws governing social discourse, punishment ect.. will never be based off or connected to religious beliefs/doctrines (and shouldn't be) many politicians base their decisions on those beliefs. It's like mixing dirt with ice cream.

i dont see preaching as a religious thing. i mean the word comes from religion, and people only seem to use it to refer to religion, but i can honestly say the the most preachy person i know is an atheist. (he's my buddy, and i love him)

i'm convinced that it is a personality trait, and not as closely linked to ideology or doctrine as people make it out to be. having said that, i don't think people telling others how to live is necessarily a bad thing. that's because i think it comes from caring about their well being. it can lead to bad situations, but it can also lead to good.


back to a part of the topic i missed... people are discriminated against constantly because of where they come from. i'm talking about immigration and visa policies. they're dumb. my same preachy friend happens to be from iran, and i'm highly doubtful that he'll ever enter USA, even though he's landed immigrant in canada, and will soon become a citizen. at the american border the order of questions goes something like this:
"you are canadian?"
"yes"
"where were you born?"
showing me it doesnt matter if you change country.
