My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. Well, the people we have argued with here, and that I have heard on the news and in real life, all supported their views with quotes from the bible. So from that point of view you would say yeah, it comes from religious backgrounds. But then again, it's hard to tell if it's because people dislike it, because they might want to hide that. It might not be socially acceptable to really come out and say, yeah homo's disgust me, so they use the bible as cover.

I think that they find it disgusting or unsuitable because of the second reason you listed, so that's the ultimate answer to the question in my opinion.
It's they way you were raised (environment, genetics) that primarily determines your world views. i'm not sure what inspired the thread, but i almost always stay out of conversations like this--mainly because i can't stand the insufferable ignorance displayed by some of the people (rhino.) i dont frown upon an open conversation, but speculation into the gay lifestyle by people who have no affiliation with it is just ridiculous.
as far as i can tell, this was started just to create a general discussion about homosexuals. if i were to start a thread to just 'discuss' any other demograhic, it would be closed imediately--especially if it were racially oriented.
if a thread were started in order to produce some sort of positive feedback or results, that would be a different story.Comment
