i'm not sure what inspired the thread, but i almost always stay out of conversations like this--mainly because i can't stand the insufferable ignorance displayed by some of the people (rhino.) i dont frown upon an open conversation, but speculation into the gay lifestyle by people who have no affiliation with it is just ridiculous.

as far as i can tell, this was started just to create a general discussion about homosexuals. if i were to start a thread to just 'discuss' any other demograhic, it would be closed imediately--especially if it were racially oriented.

if a thread were started in order to produce some sort of positive feedback or results, that would be a different story.

It's true. Just like how it's always bugged me that 'racism' is illegal in Trench Wars, but saying stuff like 'queer' 'homo' won't get you banned. Personally I'm all for free speech and saying what you want to, but since the zone choose to regulate speech, at least be fair about it.



And to address the thread, people hate gays because people hate things which are not like themselves. Since modern western society tells us to be nice to so many groups, hating gays is one of the very last 'socially acceptable' ways to hate. And people like to hate.

It's simple psychology/natural selection to distrust those unlike you. I won't go into a long post about that though if you can't figure out what I mean.

If their belief can't be proven wrong (no one can honestly say that two men, or two women aren't meant to fall in love) then why can't they practice it?

Everything you do in life is a choice. you arent just born and think "hey im gay, i want to suck dick.' u learn throughout ur short life what u like and dislike, and then u make a judgement on what sex you like. my brothers friend friend is gay but when he was younger he dated girls as well and got in with them (at least thats what he told him) but now he likes it up his own bum. genes only code for so much of your body, but thank god not ur brain cells. if they did they ud love/hate everything ur parents love/hate.

I've started a few threads in the past about race and religion that I would like to think are productive. I don't create threads like this to create a haven for the ignorant, I create them so people here can talk about them in a mature fashion and maybe even learn something- if my previous threads in the past had degenerated into idiots spamming hateful posts, I wouldn't have continued to create them.

I honestly don't think using the word homosexuality is offensive, but it's cool if you disagree. I never used any derogatory term when creating these topics in an attempt to keep them informative and my point wasn't to speculate about the "gay lifestyle". I merely wanted people's opinions because I've never really heard anyone talk about it before. Why do people hate gays? Is it because their religion told them to, or because they just dislike the idea of a man or woman having a relationship with someone of their own gender? I'm glad that alot of people have responded maturely like in my previous topics and hope that a few ignorant souls won't pollute the discussion.

I seriously don't get people who think gay people just chose to be gay, or say it's a disease. What makes you love your gf? You obviously feel attracted to her for some way (if you don't have one, what about past ones). You didn't chose the things you like about her. You didn't say on forehand. You know what, I think I am going to fall in love with her, and for this and that reason. Something in you tells you, you like her. Same with gay people, something in them tells them they like boys.

Now this guy right here makes sense..i totally agree with you., i've seen kids who are flamboyant at such a young age that it leaves most people to believe you're born that way...also theres no way there could be such a thing as a bisexual man..you cant be with a man and not be gay ...sorry merce :P

It may be a choice to live the lifestyle but actually being gay or bi-sexual, having the sexual preference is not something you have a choice in. I didn't choose to be straight, I just like women. This is a result of both nature and nurture, another man may turn out different under different circumstances and genetic predispositions. That argument was put to rest a while ago, neither has a greater effect on a person.

You act like i'm lashing out at gay people, i never said i hated gays, or that they should be banished from earth, or any of the sort, my question was legit.

I don't care if a person is gay, it doesn't bother me really, i just don't understand it.
I know a few gay people in real life, and nearly all of them I've had a conversation with, and nearly all of their first relationships were with a girl.

And as for homosexuality not being a choice.. that's nonsense, homosexuality isn't genetic, that just doesn't make sense. Ive never heard of a "carrier" of homosexuality. It's a choice. For some it may be a tad subconscious, but any person can be conditioned to like any sex, race, shape, color of any human being.. or almost anything for that matter, so saying that it's genetic is just nonsense.

This leads to the question, then, of what you believe causes people to choose to be homosexual despite strong societal discouragement. I don't believe I've ever heard the idea that people choose to be gay in order to rebel against society, even if they do not feel any conscious resentment against society.
