I don't take the bible literally for two reasons; firstly I don't speak ancient hebrew and I don't trust those that translated it and furthermore. Words that have been translated have several meanings, I don't trust that the translators picked the exact word used in context.
Secondly, it was written for idiots. No offense. It was written so that everybody could understand however there are things that are just not explainable in simple words, or that would have sounded realistic for the time it was "published". If the bible spoke of the exact scientific process of the bigbang in Genesis 1, do you think the bible would be as popular now? Probably not.
As for Jesus, there's sufficient evidence outside of the Bible that tells us he existed.
Now, do you realise you're pissing a lot of people off with your christian threads?
Wow, when I read that, it hurt. But, its no wonder if someone is not aware and have not learnt or had the energy to even see into it.
I want to enlighten you what the Bible is, since you seem to have somewhat funny view of it. First of all, as Christian you should know that the Bible is the word of God, NOT just a book. The Bible includes the doctrine of God, surprise surprise. The Bible in the whole, NOTE, in the whole gives you the picture of God. YET, the human tounge/words is not perfect, since how do you know that you can describe God's all-knowing and to think its really God's all-knowing, when God's all-knowing can be BEYOND our thoughts.
As I said, the Bible is GOD's word. There are 2 words that describes the word, word in hebrew. "Peh" -> mouth. "What God has spoken" -> Isaiah/Jesaja 1:20. And as you know, many times used. "So says the LORD:" Which is a prophetic expression. Numbers 3:16, Joshua 22:9.
Second word, Davar -> word, thing etc. It is a dynamic expression of something being done. Also personal level, what person says. To make oneself known. Isaiah 2:1, "What he saw". As you can check the evangelium of John, the pro log/prology..(the beginning of John..) About God's word. In the new testament e there is used a greek word as Theopnestos > God's "breathing, blow out"
God have spoken, worked and expressed himself.
IT angers me to say the scripture was written for idiots. How can you even say so. The Word of God is there because it tells about GOD and about the human AND about their relationship to each other.
About translations. Do you even know how did before writing? Before even writing, they cleansed themselves before writing, so that they would not be unpure when writing the word of God, since God is holy. And to the top of all, they did not even touch the scripture with their bare hands. And since it was so important.. you can actually see that is was a job of perfection when copying the word of God. If one would compare the Leningrad codex 1008/9 with the Qumran writings which was written 15-100 before Christ, there is not much differences, if not, none at all. Thats a freaking 1000 year gap between both writings. So writing the word of God was a work of perfection.
Those who wrote the word of God, was inspirited by the Holy Spirit. That why our Bible today is as it is. And everything in the Bible is proven to be necessary in the eyes of God.
The Bible canon. Greek word, Kanoon which means: Cane, standard, measuring stick, adjustment/regulation.
Canon is the books in the bible today.. the whole. The Old testament, even JESUS refers to the books in the old testament. Luke 24:44 "Then he said, "When I was with you before, I told you that everything written about me by Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must all come true."
The law (Torah) Genesis to Deuteronomy,
prophets (Nabim) Joshua to 2King(not Ruth, is included in the Ketubim) Isaiah to Malachi.
Writings, Ketubim, everything else in the OT/old testement.
And those who decided about the Canon, was lead by the Spirit of God. God's word ain't no small thing, you are talking about the Word of God.
Superted, I hope this has given you a burning passion for the word of God, since if you don't see it's importance, how can you ever grow in Christ? And you do must take a note, you can't scratch everyones ears and reject your faith. Its noted that not everyone was delighted hearing the gospel of Jesus, just read ACTS for an example.Endless space, endless exploration.

I'll probably see you in heaven one day.My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

With that out of the way, can you please stop making us look bad by instigating religious arguments? Personally, I don't see the FUCKING POINT of the question. Do you believe in the Big Bang? Does it have any relevance to the fact that you should be reconciling religious differences through the teachings of Christ?
Please stop being a fucking moron. Open your eyes and embrace the world of differences we live in. As far as I'm concerned, you're not setting a very good example as a missionary, apologist, or Christian through your nonsensical attempts at riling up the TW forums. I know because I've been there.
Sincerely,
bioture
Matthew 5:13-16 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if salt have lost ihis savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Salt irritates and Christians are to be the salt of the earth. We are to irritate the unsaved, that they either hate us with a passion, or they see what we see, and come to Christ. There is no luke-warmness, no compromise in Christ. Jesus Christ never changes, its our sinful hearts that can change either to Him, or back to the world. I urge you, open your eyes, and embrace the work of Jesus Christ, deny and forsake the way of this world, and look to the Savior for all. Forsake the comfort of the world, and take on the passion of the cross. You get once chance on earth, don't waste it in the world, but spend every breath living and dying for the Savior.
James 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
If Christ is not your center, your focus, and your reason for every being, then your a dead stumbling block in the will of God. If this is true, then get moving, get your hands on something and get to work for the Savior.
James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Forsake your friendship with the world, take up the cross and crucify your fleshly nature for the Savior.May my ambition be, more love of Christ to thee.

I never claimed this work as my own, I just refuted the claim of copying and pasting, in actuality I wrote everything down, not copy and pasted it from online. No one asked me where I got this source from, they just claimed, copying and pasting. Next time, asking me where I got this from would be an easier way of finding out, and this is the only thing that was written out from someone else's work. I actually was writing it out for my sake, as typing something out will help solidify it into your mind.May my ambition be, more love of Christ to thee.
