yo i could seriously write a better resume with my experience on ss captaining quicksand than you have on your resume..it needs a lot of work

Heres a sample of that resume:

Job Experience

Squad captain, Evolve<D> (random ass dates)
- Helped squadowner Biernoot manage squad by recruiting 50 newbies over 1 year span as captain
- Averaged 10-8 in TWD games, many times carrying his squad single-handedly
- Key MVP showings demonstrate this player as a clutch performer

Squad owner, Quicksand (2004-present)
- Leadership abilities shown when many players from previous captaincies joined squad
- Maintains an overall average of 12-8, showing continuous improvement over years of playing
- Captained first-time TWL squad to record of 6-4, failing to make playoffs because of discriminatory actions by TWL staffers (TWL staffer stepped down after that season)
- Very next season led squadron to be undefeated in TwL, while winning every game 4 vs 5, making Quicksand the first squadron to ever go undefeated in TWL while winning every game 4 vs 5

Ok, now seriously your resume SUCKS. You have down that you have a bachelors of fine arts (which means basically nothing, bad call). What GPA did you have? If it was good you might want to mention that to separate you from some guy who barely squaked by. Your bullets through your various jobs that you have had basically dont mean anything at all. The ones you bulleted as a bookseller are pretty good though, as they show initiative in a way that doesnt sound retarded...like your last bullet for ruby tuesdays. What kind of sports and volunteer work (if any) do you do? You could easily throw in that during your off time on one of these jobs you did something that helped out in the community. Theres more to a job than just your technical knowledge, and I'd venture to say that most companies look at the person as a whole, and how you are going to represent the company to the public

If your trying to get a job in 2d art, yet you write little about your projects and education but a shit load off waffle about jobs with little transferable skills into illustration.

I don't know about the usa but the degrees here go 3, 2.2, 2.1, 1 what did you get? if i'd seen that resume i'd automatically decide you got the worst, and that you've padded out little experience using grandiose language trying to make menial tasks sound better than they are - i wouldn't hire you or ask you to bring along a portfolio.

if i were you i'd cut down on your experience and what you did in those jobs, in the real world most people know what waiters etc do, so use just that as an example of being a team player and ability to work under stressful conditions during busy periods and putting up with shit head customers - don't go into it that much on your resume unless your going for jobs to do with waiting or the hotel sector etc ... use that for examples in an interview if they ask you something along those lines of HOW U DEAL WIT STRESZ?


on a side note, i wasn't that impressed with the sketches at all really, quite a few i'd bin
the inked work was a bit better but not overly impressive and again some i'd remove
the flash animation of soul driven and neenja was alot better, and i guess thats what your focusing on so that is good

if i were you, i'd scrap some of the sketches and whack up a storyboard section for neenja and soul driven with some paper sketches of story board ideas on how you came up with it and also ideas for the future of soul driven etc focus on that strong point more

PD my resume is in the exact format as given by the career services advisor. Very few if any graduates are gong to have hardcore experience in their fields apart from intern work, so we need to list what job experience we do have, if any. While the resume is an important factor, the biggest things we need to worry about are the demo reels, flatbooks and website.


I'll be making improvements soon folks, thumbnails and centering mostly. Keeping the color scheme though, thanks for the tips.

yo your career advisor is a fucking idiot. Plain and simple. Your portfolio is the most important part obviously, but that resume is just straight retarded. In the real world, with real people reading these resumes, if you were trying to impress me with those bullets you had for those minimum wage jobs I'd throw your ass out (after making sure your art wasnt good enough first). My understanding is basically that the resume in this career field should complement the portfolio and make it look like youve accomplished something irl. Making fake ass bullets only makes you look like you brag about dumb shit. Now if you had won employee of the month/quarter/year, thats one thing. That actually means something. Writing the definition of your job looks really bad..

I'm going to say this once, Izor. Leave the trolling out of this thread. Yea, maybe in your retarded way, you tried to give some constructive criticism at the start of this thread. That would have been decent of you, had you left out the Quicksand bullshit and the insults. However, since you have spent most of your time on the forums being a troll and comedian, don't be so surprised when someone doesn't respect your career advice.

LB has been one of the most active and thoughtful contributors to the forums in the last couple of years, so the community is going to support him like he supported the community. I have no problem taking advice or criticism from people on or off the froums; the fact is he goes around in multiple threads and makes an effort to stir up shit. Ward and Wark have both tried to contribute positively after going out of their way to offer advice or create a serious post, and get frustrated when people don't listen to them or write their posts off. This is the same exact category- if he had anything positive in one ore two of his posts it gets washed away simply by how he acts everywhere else. If you want to be taken seriously, don't act like a complete ass all the time, simple as that. If you look above in the rest of the topic you'll see I didn't write anyone else off and actually took the time to read their posts, because they don't act like complete tools on the rest of the forums. Even people I disagree with in other subjects were able to give their advice or criticism without resorting to childish , attention whoring bullshit.

Everyone can say something useful. I've told this again and again to both Wark and Ward, you can look up the posts if you want- if you want to be taken seriously, if you want to not let people brush off your posts before even reading them, stop acting like an asshole. It's really not that fucking hard. No I didn't read his posts, and I will continue not too- it's not that I'm "sad" or anything close, it's that his posts in the past have repeatedly been wastes of time, blocks of text to feed his ego or to incite other people into anger.

Believe me I've had long arguments with multiple people here before and have no problem accepting other viewpoints, but I'm not going to take the time to read posts from a poster that chooses to waste their time spewing negative nonsense on forums.
