He said I used words like Rope along with negger, which I never did, along with several other words that would associate negger with racism. And then to top it off you have the mod who banned me on the first page of this thread laughing at a negger joke that got me banned in the first place. Yes meaning ships that have not greened in SVS settings. There is no "weaker" ship in TW because you can not green better weapons ect... TW is about skill, lag and apparently ego stroking... I don't really know anymore.

really negging could just be attacking ships with a lower bounty since it would drop your rating/avg. kill thus having a negative effect even though the ships are on par stats-wise (that's how it was explained to me when i started playing because it is on a lot of literature to help beginning players)

also i wiki'd negging - it's not in there so i think its safe to say that, since its not a real word, one can attach any fucking meaning to it so it shouldn't be constured as racism. If you're not using the actual words then the meaning is just up to interpretation and of course each person is going to interpret it how they see fit. Therefore, instead of "i think this" and "i think that" is racism stick to the fucking definition of the word.

Seriously "go hang a widget from an oak tree" is not enough to be considered racism: plenty of things hang from oak trees; bird feeders, tire swings, hammocks, etc. The fact of the matter is widget is a made up word just like negging. it's rather close minded to interpret the made up word to be just one of many possible choices.

it's also rather convenient to pick it to be one that would ban someone from play, seeing how its the only way to get banned for something you said.

No it would not because that ship would not be weaker or less powerful. The word has no use in TW, Wark is just looking for some attention. Sadly though we can not pick and choose when to enforce the rules when they want some.

i've said the phrase plenty of times in it's correct context and haven't been banned, but it seems i wasn't using it corrrectly according to you so i guess you should have interpreted it to be racism and banned me

if you read what i was saying (i've never played any zone with SVS settings btw and still see it a lot in messages and in chats...) the word has no denotation, only connotations unless you are refering to the subspace glossary provided in the original package...

I can see the point you are trying to make, but as you said, you were trying to use it in the right context. Witnesses have reported that Wark was using it in a racist context, and that's where the line gets crossed. The key word again in racism discussions is "context". Words themselves are not racist. It's the context.

I personally would not treat any player different regardless of how I personally feel about them. Whether you believe me does not matter. I would fire anyone who acted differently on staff.

i wasn't there when he got banned and i don't have the privelige to see what he said in its orginal context so i won't say that i'm necessarily backing him up

i still don't understand why racism is so bad in tw that it's virtually the only way to get banned without physically doing anything besides name calling, which is one of the fundamental pillars of online gaming. I don't understand why calling out someone's race is any worse than their age, gender, sexual preference, etc. In real life when someone has an equivilant "anti-racism" policy it is to stem hate.
