be careful you might get shit on by someone telling you that you're sinking to 'their level', especially when you're telling it like it is.

para takes aim to fire back at LB, writes that post..... and shoots blanks
if you can make more than 45k doing what you enjoy doing, that means youre doin pretty solid in my book.
if the only other way you can define success is by being able to wipe your ass with $100 bills... have at it chief
but if you want, feel free to make fun of what i do, where i went to school, and how much i make.

i don't see how he got into college with arguments like that.
quit counting your chickens before they hatch. You won't make 6 figures in any job unless you work at it for a decade, toss a lot of salads, or ... no or just you won't.
why do ppl still think they need to make 2x-4x the nat'l average salary to be happy?

i really doubt that everyone is going to be making the 6 digits they think they will. And theres more to it than how much money you make, such as quality of life. If I can work 9-5 mon-fri and make 60+ grand im happy.

For one, i call bullshit on you saying "you don't care how much you make"Originally posted by Liquid Blue View Post! As long as all my bills get paid, I really don't give two shits how much I make!
Why?
Because I'm...what do you call it...um....doing what I love? People pay me to draw cartoons. Does that sink into your head? Plumbers fix pipes and toilets and hey if they love to do it- more power to them. But people, pay me, to draw cartoons. Why should I give a fuck about plumbers? And if I become an animation director? I'll be getting paid $80k+ to watch cartoons, and improve them. Let me say it again. I'll be getting paid $80k+ to watch cartoons, and improve them. So where were you going with your shit again? Besides making me laugh?
I guess the only thing keeping me afloat from drowning in my insecurities is the Bachelors degree from the accredited Art college I went to on a scholarship. Shit, I'm done for homie.
Two, that is a big if, if you become an animation director, that is one of the highest positions, and you might get that job. Let me repeat, after maybe 10-15 years in the industry, probably more, you might get that job. Which makes around hmm 1/4 the salary i will be, for sure, eventually making. That is just skimming the top. Your career choice was poor, and you will realize this soon, believe me. Many of my parents friends have came to our family telling how sad they are for choosing careers such as yours. One thing you gotta learn in this world man, you cannot get anywhere in life doing what you "love". If i did that i would easily go into mechanical engineering, then eventually lead a robotics team. Your soon-to-be "successful" career is based on far fetched assumptions.
So in summation for this area:
congratulations on using one statistic to base an argument.
And who gives a flying fuck about your 500$ scholarship to an art college, if you only knew what i was promised from an Engineering Society Scholarship, you would sit down and just hush. An accredited art college just means it is recognized as an art college. You obviously either don't get that concept, because it is actually hurting you, or you simply think that means something.
So, wow i just basically just refuted everything you said, so. I guess you lose again.

I almost feel bad for you.Originally posted by paradise! View PostOh you want more? come on we all know you went to a local community college. Be Proud, Be Proud my good man.
so i guess your done. Im willing to bet money that that's probably where you went.
Let's just say, that I would only care about money. Going along this route, let's look at plumbers.
I've gotten a few different numbers, but we're looking at an average of $45k-$58k for "level III plumbers"

$40-$53k for "level II plumbers"

$45k average as of 2006 for regular plumbers-
College Board is a non-profit organization that clears a path for all students to own their future through the AP Program, SAT Suite, BigFuture, and more.
$34k average as of June 5, 2008 for regular plumbers-
Apprentices start off their careers earning roughly half of that, and work their way to $45k or so after years of trudging alongside experienced plumbers.

Let's mosey on over to animators. We make between $40k-60k, on average.

Starting average salary is usually $37k, and goes up from there.
Oh but wait, as of June 5th again it seems the average has risen to $65k. Flash animators (hi) even make up to $72k, after a good number of years in the business.
After 10-15 years, I could even be making $80k+. These are usually Animation Director positions, the cats who have animated long enough where they can sit back and help refine animations instead of doing the daily grind.
Soo...it looks like you're wrong. If I wanted to just try to make as much money as possible, I'd have a better chance at being an animator than a plumber. But wait, I know this sounds crazy- but I don't give a shit about how much plumbers make! As long as all my bills get paid, I really don't give two shits how much I make!
