umm how has no one mentioned my man, Duwayne Johnson? c'mon the man's a freaking acting machine. I can't wait till the day when he just replaces all actors, and movies consist of 15 constumed versions of his genious. I mean, Can you smell what the Rock is cooking?


















































but seriously, Johnny Depp has played more interesting characters imo, but idk if that makes him a better actor. Writing has to do with a lot of actors success too. And for comedic (not necessarily in movies) roles I gotta give it to will farrel, this guys hilarious. Some stupid movies as of late, but he did stranger than fiction, which was pretty good too.

One of my personal faves, although I don't know if you could classify him as one of the greatest, would have to be Michael Madsen.

Also, what about Ed O'Neill. Truman Show, History of Violence, Gods and Generals...The guy has serious acting chops.

I hate this guy and dislike him but still I must admit that he knows how to act and his roles have varied from a retard in What's Eating Gilbert Grape (the role rly suited him) to sentimental stuff and to action parts... anyways we all hate him and dislike him for being the pretty boy but I think no one can deny that he can act... oh yeah and I'm talking about Leonardo DiCaprio.

well shit if people are listing these other actors without much variety in their roles I gotta throw a shout-out to Mark Wahlberg

Mark Wahlberg is a terrible actor, i've never liked any of his movies, personally, i think his acting is incredibly corny.

Tom Hanks is genuinely one of the greatest actor, Forrest Gump is easily one of best movies in the 20th century, along with Saving Private Ryan. Excellent Actor.

Jack Nicholson is also an amazing actor, all of his movies are straight up amazing , he plays the roles so legit-ly.

Al Pacino, Godfather series anyone?, enough said

De Niro, eh he's alright in my book nothing flashy, could never be what Al Pacino was/is.

Ok here goes (o noes I broke my word).

First off, new found respect for Christian Bale after seeing the Machinist.

Second, Johnny Depp is a great actor, personally I find Tom Hanks better. But really, you cant compare these two on the roles they have played. They are completely different. Same as you cant put Johnny Depp in a Morgan Freeman role and the other way around. It doesn't work, no matter how good they are (yeah, bring the racist joke).

You could possible compare Johnny Depp in Blow with DeNiro and Pacino. But in the end, there is typecasting for a reason. There is a reason Morgan Freeman gets casted as the old guy and not as a teenager (oversimplifying to make my point) and there is a reason Johnny Depp gets casted for Pirates of the Caribbean and not Tom Hanks.

Personally I think Tom Hanks is slightly better than Johnny Depp.

As for Adam Sandler, I love the guy, but not for his acting abilities. Ben Stiller is better, but still not great. I have to give Brad Pitt a mention purely for his role in Snatch, overall I don't think he is that awesome.

I do wanna mention George Clooney, I think the guy is pretty damn good. Other actors I like a lot, in no particular order, are Jim Carrey, Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Dustin Hoffman and Tim Robbins. And lately I have been liking John Cusack and Joaquin Phoenix.
