Therefor, the odds of a atom being in a unprobable place, is 100% probable, because they have to to be somewhere in the universe, if there are atoms in the universe.

last time i checked the first popes believed in the old testament as well as the supernatural occurances of the new testament and when science said "ummmmm nope" (which they didn't really have business doing) christianity flip-flopped their stance and said "oh its just metaphorical, not literal, you got us all wrong"

EDIT: I don't believe they still happen today, but I believe that they did. I'm not saying I don't believe they couldn't happen today because that's kind of heresy against my own beliefs. I mean... how can I believe that God can create matter if I don't believe in miracles?

Irrelevant, by applying your logic i was not prooving a person could not exist, i was prooving milosh could not exist. And given that factor no person on this planet could.

well 10^40,000 seems high but ill accept it. The problem is - at least on this level of argumentation - our current universal result is not worth more than the other 10^40,000 -1 possible results. We are biased because we are the lucky winner AND on top of that we are thinking creatures. But in itself it does not tell us anything other than: we were lucky.

to my defense, i never created a thread claiming i could argue against god based on probabilities. Even if i did, my believes are out of question here and based on a by far more complex logic. Im not even sure if it is correct to calculate a probability that includes the factor time. However for the purpose of argumentation i will do you the favour:

Humans are not created by design. If it were the case an omnipotent designer would have built the universe around the factor 1:1 that humans would emerge. But as it seems today this factor is around 1:10^40,000. In case of a designer the purpose of this universe is that thing with the highest possibility of emerging.

Fluffz, your logic just isn't logical. It's like finding a quarter on the top of Mount Everest and claiming it was carried by a bird then caught by the wind until it landed at the top. I'm claiming that it's highly improbable that it wasn't carried by a human while you're saying all things are probable because it is tails side up.

Whether its tails side up or heads side up it's still a quarter on top of Mount Everest, and whether I am milosh, Bobby Joe, Susanne or Frank I'm still a complex ordered life form working against the second law of thermodynamics.

i only got 2 things to say this time :fear:

1) try this statistic on for size: count up all of the universes in existence (no one knows as of now) then count up all of the stars in each universe (holy crap big numbers) now count up all of the planets attributed to said stars (OH MAN GINORMOUS NUMBER) and i bet the probability of a planet being inhabitable and having all of these random occurances that lead to the development of life as we know it is fairly high

2) for all of those who are using the desk arranging idea, I've got something for you. (surprised no one has played this card yet) In a Quantum Universe, your desk is arranged in every possible way. GG when all else fails fall back on chaos theory and quantum theory!
