well i do not see many of my peers regularly knock heads with a variety of people and receive this sort of reaction, and my college professors routinely pull me aside just to be like "holy fuck". it's not me thinking i am hot shit as much as people telling me i am hot shit.

the things about point-of-view and perception and objectivity and scientific method - those challenges were the basis of mises' attempt to develop a new methodology. i have a feeling that is probably where the next intellectual thrust i make will take me. i've dug into kant's "critique of pure reason" and he seems to be trying to grapple with these very questions.

Now that they rejected the bailout plan, I guess McCain's gambit of appearing to be the guy who suspended his campaign to look like he fixes things failed.

But then, the republicans shot the plan. The plan was stupid. And Bush endorsed it.

Tell me one time in history a president wasn't re-elected during the middle of a war, he strategically planned it, did anyone see this shit coming, not really. Although it was apparent in 2004 he wasn't a legitimate leader but the Republican Party drew on nationalism and public security to promote fear into the hearts of Americans. Did the media do their job and hold these individuals accountable? Absolutely not. Journalistic integrity started to become a fucking joke.

maybe - except the U.S. imports alot of its oil from overseas?

after hurricane katrina, the government shook down gas stations for "price gouging", i.e. "charging enough for gas to remain profitable and therefore, operational".

this time they're just like fuck it - if price gouging is so evil, we'll just not sell gas

that really sucks - if gas stations had jacked up the price, perhaps people would have started conserving fuel. and then there'd be more of it.

I don't have a lot of time to post on these forums except for ridiculous, over the top and asinine one liners (I need to keep my asshole persona going) but I appreciate that people like Epi and Jerome think it's important to post on a forum as small and tight-knit as this one.

I really like it when people post links to articles or opinion essays that I may have otherwise missed as well.
