      • about obama.

Kthx has accurately demonstrated why obama would be a bad president. I even agree with him that there were a few other republicans who would have made better presidents. Hes accurately pinpointed american politics.

My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

Or someone who wants to be the president of the United States that funneled money to Rezko to build low income housing that constantly failed to meet building code inspections. Obama wanted to funnel 14 million dollars to this slum lord who is now in jail, and was once one of Obama's friends. I don't want the next president to be friends with known terrorists, who thought that September 11'th happening was what America deserved because we try to save other countries from being controlled by dictators. I don't want our next president to be the candidate that leaders like Chavez and Putin want to be in control of America, because they know that he will basically destroy the military through lack of funding, and not actually be able to stop the expansion of terrorism and communism once again in the world, it is a weakness that many countries at odd with us have been waiting to happen. I don't want a president who changes his make-up depending on what kind of crowd he is talking to, darker make-up for black crowds, and lightening make-up for white crowds. I don't understand how people think that he is going to change anything, he changes his stance on pretty much every issue nearly every time he opens his mouth. He is running on a completely different platform in the election than he did in the democratic primaries, and his idea for change is making his VP pick Biden, a 65 year old white guy who has been a senator for over 20 years?

              • you know, it's like- why aren't both sides correct?

like, if you prove that obama's a bad guy - does that mean mccain is magically redeemed? and vice versa?

i'd like to see some specific things either candidate plans to do once they get into office. i mean, really specific.

                • Things i would like to see that will never happen.

Create a 1 percent food tax, Take the money invest in homeless shelters, and medical care for children.

Hopefully the homeless will get jobs, then pay taxes, do less crimes. Thus contributing to the economy.

Will it ever happen no. But it would be nice.

                  • people hate the idea of taxes, even if the tax is going towards a good cause

they want to hear about less taxes, not more

also, raising money for both homeless shelters and medical care for children is going to be steep, would require more than 1% food tax- and even then, you have to define what you mean exactly by food

a tax on candy would be pretty funny- especially if that money went towards childrens medical care

"Investing" is a term that implies a potential return on the money invested, giving away shelter and food and healthcare isn't an "investment".

                      • you could argue you that the investment comes from the potential jobs the homeless could be working, positively contributing to society and America's economy

Realistically speaking, what sort of contribution would they make? Unemployment is up - people with better qualifications can't get jobs. What sort of jobs do homeless people generally work - does their income level generate significant tax revenue? In any case, with the revenue subsequently being spent on other government projects - like welfare and purchasing subprime loans - what overall net profit could be generated?

                          • mmm well then you have to look at who exactly is homeless, to really specify on how exactly they could help the economy

depending on the skillset, homeless people could be a solution to outsourcing. I'm sure they're willing to do the jobs for cheaper, especially if they don't have to pay rent. A couple of those homeless people could have valuable job experience and specialty expertise, just coupled with a bad addiction like gambling or drug dependency.

It won't need to be a big comparison of how much money they can generate annually, but how much good they can do for the community at a low cost.

Well, that's just it - they can't do it for cheaper, because there's minimum wage laws. With unemployment rising, businesses simply can't afford to give a less-qualified person a job, especially with many more qualified people looking for jobs. It might be discriminatory, but having a stable housing situation is a massive competitive advantage in the labor market, especially when businesses are forced to pay higher wages than they otherwise would for otherwise "low-pay" jobs. Of course, to look any further would lead to questions of why there's alot of homelessness and unemployment, and I would be forced to rant about government intervention causing more problems than it solves

                              • I'll try to find a source for it later (someone please correct me if I'm wrong)- but aren't a majority of unemployed workers coming from the housing and car-factory sectors? There are tons of people with high qualifications like you mentioned, that might not want to subject themselves to lower-paying or un-releated jobs, that the homeless could do.

I'd have to research outsourcing before getting into a debate about pay.

what I still think though, is that there are job opportunities for homeless people, that would be beneficial to the economy, community and American self-dependence.
