Well its not like I didnt know the basics before reading most of it. It's the same shit a democratic candidate goes for every election. McCain's is the same shit a republican candidate wants every election also. I see no reason why I would all of a sudden change my mind.

EDIT- FANTASTIC link to the third debate-
http://elections.nytimes.com/2008/pr...al-debate.html
It has the entire third debate recorded, written copy on the right side and video on the left side. You can go to any part of the 90 minute debate, look at what the candidates were saying on the right, and watch a video of them saying it on the left.My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

McCain made a remark last night of how he would like our men and women in the military to come home from deployment and be teachers without having to submit to attending a university or college for a degree or certification to teach.
Did anyone else make note of this and wonder what he was talking about?
Is this what our nation and our children require, more teachers that are not qualified? Isn’t that precisely what we are theoretical to be doing away with? McCain’s statement deserved more explanation, but he seemed to be at a loss for forming complete sentences and thoughts during this rambling of his education plan.
I wouldn’t be surprised if McCain wanted to out-source or sub-contract the veterans that he wants teaching our children with Blackwater. Just think, Blackwater could instruct our elementary aged children the fundamentals of tactical training, firing range and target systems, and security consulting!May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.

Id say it depends, theres plenty of educated people in the military. Whos to say they cant be physical education teacher, or health teachers. Depending on their fields of study (in the army) even science or physics could be suitable.Originally posted by 404 Not Found View PostMcCain made a remark last night of how he would like our men and women in the military to come home from deployment and be teachers without having to submit to attending a university or college for a degree or certification to teach.

I disagree partially with this. Having grown up in a military populated town (one of the US largest sub bases and shipyards were located there) I think it's not a good idea to take guys straight from the military and let them teach (especially young children), but I had some teachers who were "less qualified" than the other teachers with degrees from major universities, that used their military experience as a driving force for a community college degree or a degree from less prestigious schools. Some of these teachers (including a 7th grade humanities teacher/navy vet) were my favorites. They were able to meld their experiences in the service, such as seeing and interacting with other cultures, into their studies and make their lessons exciting. My favorite teacher would tell us about his time serving at bases in Somalia and South Africa while our lessons taught African History. As I remember he only had his associates. I also had a former Vietnam green beret for a psychology teacher in HS. I'm not sure if he even had a degree. He'd been at the school for at least 20 years and volunteered around Seattle counseling homeless vets. One of the more popular teachers too.Originally posted by ConcreteSchlyrd View PostNo. Just no.
On the other hand I had a marine for an English teacher when I was in Jr. High as well as a navy boy for a gym teacher and both were sexists/crazy.Originally posted by ToneWomen who smoke cigarettes are sexy, not repulsive. It depends on the number smoked. less is better

I think he was talking about the "Troops to Teachers" program, has been around since 1994 but hasn't gotten alot of publicity.Looking it up, It's always required some form of certification though- usually a BA in whatever field you're trying to teach in.

What is crazy, is him saying they shouldn't even need any form of certification at all, to just throw people with the potential to have PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) in a classroom full of kids, just because they've served in our military. My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. Uh I think teachers should be taught how to teach. Taking regular people who may know stuff and having them teach results in lots of bad teachers. For those who have actually taught before, you'd know that teaching is harder than it looks.Epinephrine's History of Trench Wars:
