    We'll visit this later.

No one's saying that America isn't fully capable of great things. In fact, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone that said otherwise.

Again, no one's saying that America doesn't have the ability to step it up and do good in the world. But you've said it yourself, our government has had the recent tendency to do some really retarded things (Iraq, the real possibility of Iran, domestic spying, torture, etc). I would like to change that trend.

Go live in Zimbabwe.
You're right, we're not Zimbabwe. Good deal.

If you can't see this point then you might as well stop reading right here. He knew that if he kept a voting record without making clear career-defining voting decisions, he would have an outstanding chance of winning a future presidency, and no one could hold him accountable for flip-flopping on anything later without being able to question the accuser's patriotism. This guy is not stupid but he's a typical career politician, yet he has already shown me his biggest flaw, other than his non-existant executive experience - his ego (an egomaniac like me can EASILY recognize this character trait). Everything else about this guy is filler and has been borrowed from the roots of Reagan-era politics and their uniform partisan ideas (fuck the earth, no innovation, bigger government (under the guise of the promise of "small government"), save you from "evildoers", pay for you on this, fuck you in your ass here, etc).
You're righ.... wait a second, you weren't talking about McCain, were you? My fingers must've slipped.

He picked an unknown woman to be his VP, at this stage being very late to introduce her to the national stage, and this strategy is McCain's way of saying "I'm all in, boys."
Because that's what I want, a gambler. I want motherfucking Kenny Rogers in the Oval Office. Someone make it happen.

Picking a woman? Oh SHIT, SON! Look at how crazy he is! I bet he accepts his party's nomination tonight, coming onstage with six-shooters a-blazin! All Yosemite Sam-like! It's gonna be a hootnanny!

I could issue a statement about Georgia, and it'd have as much impact. I bet Putin's shaking in his valenki.

You forgot the "some." There are some of us who think "drill at all costs" is an incredibly risky and stupid thing to do.

    • Some quick thoughts:

My favorite part is when he put George Lucas along with Ben Franklin and the Wright Brothers.

      Destroy:

First, I'll ignore the slight towards Conc and I as being Obama-loving liberal hippies. There are two of us in this thread, one likes Obama (and doesn't appear to be a bleeding-heart liberal) and the other one is the definition of flip flopping, fence-sitting moderate. If you looked at my voting history in the past 4 years you'd probably assume I flipped a coin each time: Heads= Republican, Tails=Democrat. We get it, you've never liked us. It's ok, dude- we've never liked you either.

Secondly, I'll ignore the ridiculous, unnecessary chest-beating...and boy was there a shitload of it.

Those things aside, you make some good points! Here's the thing, though: the risk-taking, maverick behavior is EXACTLY what is hurting McCain's compaign due to 8 years of G-Dub. Is it fair? I don't think so, no. But it is what it is.

When it comes to the economy and taxes, I currently think McCain is the better choice...a giant, sweeping Government scares the shit out of me (although that doesn't mean it couldn't work). For pretty much everything else, Obama seems better. It all comes down to what primary issues each individual votes based on.

I thought the point of a democracy is you can vote for what is right for your state/country given the current climate. Not pick a side and stick with it like a sports team, no matter how much they suck.

I can't really, on account of not being American.

Fun taxation law. If I were to become American and move abroad I'd still have to pay 15% of my income to the US Government on account of having American citizenship.

American citizenship, the privilege you pay for.

I understand now. I must make my convictions heard and stick by them no matter how ridiculous. I like where Conc is going with the whole Jesus angle. Also, George Lucas made some pretty entertaining movies in addition to being one of the greatest innovators in our country's short history.

                        • Then the apocalypse will come, God will ascend everyone who voted for McCain in 2008 into Heaven (even if you don't believe in it, it's OK as long as you voted McCain) and will proceed to rain down hellfire onto the rest of the world. I am STOKED.

                          • Well after seeing a few episodes of 24 I learned that the job of President of the United States is pretty overrated. Most of it consists of giving a go to the leaders of counter terrorist units over phone.

                            • Well now that this evening marks the Kickoff to the NFL season, I have lost all interest in the political debate taking place.

All I can say and or predict is that Melanoma man tonight will be wearing the same blue suit he wears for everything and will use the word "my friends" at least 10 times in his speech.

Personally, with all the rhetoric, I would much rather and will watch the Redskins vs. Giants game over the the Melanoma Maverick (god the Maverick was a shit car and it is all I can think of when they call him that ....is shit) speech.
May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.
