Where would you go if Zombies attacked?

If your idea is to stay outdoors because it's mobile, then an open field is the worst kind of terrain to choose. Again, a hill would be better because you can see farther around you and it's easier to defend. A wooded area would be good too because zombies don't move very well and the irregular terrain would work in your favour. But waiting in the middle of nowhere until you're forced to find another wide open space?

And do you really think you'd last more than a single night without any shelter at all? Your idea of taking shifts to keep watch won't work if the people getting rest have no shelter to do so. It wouldn't even be a matter of attrition, but of stamina, and without any supplies or shelter, you're toast.

well at least he'd have hope. I think you guys are misunderstanding the open field ideology. In an open field, literally 100's of miles from cities, there's almost NO chance of random zombies, let alone the HUNDREDS of zombies it would take to surround you in an open field, if you saw them coming.

Obviously, you wouldn't want a field in the middle of fucking frozen canada, as silly as this whole thread is, i think we can omit weather as a concern.

Yes, a hill would be nice, but provides no cover either. It's arguable who you'd see first-- they won't be marching like napoleon, and you won't have as awesome visibilty on a hill as you think, unless you're on a hill in teh middle of an open field.

It's simple, if you want to survive, you have to have hope. If you don't have hope of rescue, sitting in one place IS a war of attrition. If you have a yacht and supplies, you can go literally ANYWHERE in the world, in hopes of finding survivors or uninfected lands. You have no chance of ever leaving the WalMart once you dig yourself in. It will go crazy inside, you won't have order. People will do something stupid, and you will be compromised.

Hell, the more i think about it, the water world scenario is the most ideal, as it allows the human race to survive in perpetuity, since they are surrounded by an impregnable defense (the ocean, large lake) whereas you will eventually succome to disease, famine, or zombies inside a walmart.

if it's how to be comfortable in those last minutes, then i think i can find a better place than f'ing walmart to be comfortable.

if it's about living and surviving as the human race, we can't sit in one spot and hope for the best.

You have to think that a walmart in a town of lets say... 50000 people, that there is more than enough explosives and weapons inside of walmart to finish them off. If we started picking them off day one, with shotguns, and rifles, and molotov's then within a few months all we would have to worry about is a stray zombie here and there, Zombies are not infinite there is only as many of them as there are people in the vicinity. I think it would be much safer to at least start a walmart lets say, take out enough zombies to make it safe enough to escape, especially with 100 or so armed people, and make it to somewhere safe such as one of the many military bases in Texas. (Including a naval base). At least then we can stock up on vast amounts of supplies and weapons/ammo before we go trotting off into the wilderness in search of a more permanent safety zone.

If you go somewhere that has a population anywhere near 50,000 people during a zombie apocalypse, you're fucked. Most people would not make it out of their basic residential areas. Why would you want to go into that? Why not try and get away?

The naval base isn't a bad idea, but what if the military loses rank amid the chaos. Then you've got very scary characters you might have to deal with.

Not all 50000 zombies will be around immediately, especially if I know where I am going, the zombies start showing up to places where other zombies are if they know there is food for them there. So if we could secure the walmart before it became too overrun it would be ok I think.

eventually they'll outnumber you though and you'll be stuck in an area that potentially has 50,000 zombies. That doesn't sound as safe to me as hiding in a cabin on top of a mountain somewhere.

Yeah but like I said, 100 people with guns, and nearly unlimited ammo, not to mention crossbows with arrows, and tons of explosive chemicals including propane and gas. It wouldn't take long to polish off 50k zombies with all of that.

I disagree. 100 Scared, untrained civilians following you into Walmart are going to bail the first time they feel like they've been breached. Add to that the other stress related issues we've discussed and my theory is that the best strategy for survival is to head out with a small group and get far from civilization. Somewhere in the mountains next to a spring.

If zombies would Take over the world. I would get together about 20 close friends and family. lead them to a close by military base or even a prison maybe. Make foritfied shielded buses' like in the new dawn of the dead. I would lay land mines all around the property with spot lights pointing up into the air..I would build deep trenches before they would get to the structure so they would fall. I would create body armor. I would also modify some of my weaponry. Since your at a military base youll have acess to a A-2 Service rifle or (m-16). From here, I would scout the area with banoculars and infra-red. Then try and "farm food" or go find some. Only moving during the day. Night is when you stay up with 10 man shifts no sleep and Cover all enternces. Only make 2 viable exits. 1 in back and maybe a heli on rooftop. Put 2 snipers on roof for early detection team. if all else fails....go fucking rambo and take out everything, then shoot urself with the last bullet. Or like in zombies in TW with me and racka, Just leave them behind to get killed why you break away for it.

you would lose that unrealistic war of attrition as well. especially with untrained civilians in the areas of expertise that you need to accomplish such lofty goals.

BTW, LB, I thought of another awesome part about my plan. Once we have survived the zombie apocalypse, there has been natural selection as far as chicks go, those who survive should be best that the girls have to offer!
