How is a watermelon hard to open?

You take a knife and you cut the slice you eat it. Peeling any fruit by hand is way more work than simply cutting out a piece. I don't have long nails either which makes any peeling task even more annoying.

Oranges are easy. Pomegranates are pretty much the hardest fruit to enjoy.

Here's the trick.

Cut the top off, which will show you the individual sections. Cut down the side of the pomegranate at the start of each section.

Put it into a bowl of water and pull each section apart. The seeds will sink and everything else will float.

Drain the water and voila.

I still maintain that that's a ton of work. POM Wonderful actually sells bowls of arils that are easy to eat (but of course quite expensive). The have machines that do a decent job of opening and separating the fruit.
