What's Next For Subspace?

Hey everyone,

I logged in today after being away for a few months and noticed that the game seems pretty much dead. I’m curious about what the plans are for the game and what's happening behind the scenes. I was a bit late catching up, but I'm up to speed now and saw that Qan set up a donation fund to cover server costs, which a lot of people contributed to—it was great to see. If that’s still going on. I’d be up for doing a recurring payment or a one-time contribution to support the game.It would be awesome to see the game come back to life; there were a lot of good times before it slowed down.

If there’s a league or any actual plan in place to slowly bring the game back to where it was, I’d be interested in helping with leagues or contributing to any planning/financial efforts to revive the game. Thanks!

Yes, the star issue is resolved. We're narrowing down what caused it, but it was a server setting. With current settings, there are some network issues -- play isn't going as smoothly as we'd like -- but we're now working on isolating that, slowly.

We're also working actively on the next league plans. Best, I've let folks know you're interested. We're looking for contributors and especially those who are willing to do outreach to connect with some of the people who aren't logging in regularly anymore, but would return if they knew there was something coming down the pipe.

Staff is now meeting twice a month to coordinate next steps.

TW's definitely on its way back. It's the perfect time to get reconnected. Let's do this.

I understand the desire to keep the lights on, but is there any sort of long-term effort to improve/modernize the game? Reduce/remove reliance on Priit? Outreach, crowdfunding? Is any help needed for that effort?

What you're experiencing now is what EU was like for the past decade, only you can't stay up late in the hope that it improves.
I uninstalled in march and can confirm it was a good decision.
Go play classic wow 20th anniversary or something, you'll forget all about ss.
Fortnite is gay as fuck though, don't play that.

The subspace continuum discord (https://discord.gg/3W6Cggp) was made because the original TW discord (http://discord.gg/tdnMCeg) was inactive and lacking development. We gave the newer subspace continuum discord to Qan about 8 months after we created it (this was 4-5 years ago now and qan has been the owner ever since). We also setup roles, actively develop it, and have bot announcements for MULTIPLE zones in there - this includes 4 different announcements for trench wars, announcements for hockey zone, deathstarbattle, and devastation zone, and general league announcements for pro league.

We also have the main core of trench wars staff with full dev and mod access in there too (along with staff of many other zones). It currently has 768 people in it, with over 1000 joins on the invite links. In return qan put the 3w6Cggp link on the trench wars website, and in the game to further promote the community uniting on one discord.

I think it's probably a good idea you guys have a separate discord, and a good idea that you advertise it in game and on the website. But I think it's equally a good idea to keep promoting the whole game subspace discord on the trench wars website too and in game for many reasons.

1. Trench wars has always been the central and main zone of the game, with the highest population.
b) as a result a great percentage of returning players to subspace will stumble on trench wars website first since that will be the zone they are searching for.
2) I still think we should aim to promote a united discord as a community as this will help gather the whole population in 1 place.
3) I think trench wars is one of the most active, functional, and easily findable sites left (aside from hockey zone website) and therefore it makes a lot of sense to promote the whole game discord on the trench wars website.
4) the Subspace Continuum discord, is essentially, by all rights, your discord... run by your developers and staff (and developers and staff from other zones too). And it belongs to the community.
