Hey, I'm just saying this to make a point, but if you hire a baseelim regular who doesn't curse, like Legionair, La Comedia, Jargha, Tobe, ^__^ ME ^__^, Force of Nature, etc, not only will these people be at baseelim in a flash, but besides carrying out the job of the ZH, I'm confident that these people know the elim rules well enough to make decisions constituting these and rules, and even unwritten ones. Whether it be trucing (a real gray area, but can be based off of track-records of truces between certain players, which most basers wouldn't know about), or lag problems, at least the baseelim ZH wouldn't just say "Sorry this is out of my league, I have no idea what to do, seek higher ups". It's even funnier when people say this, when its like past midnight when there are no higher ups online.

Some reasons that basers are often hired over others:

                        - As someone said, TW is generally perceived as a basing zone. Other things like dueling and events are secondary considerations, sort of the frosting on an already orgasmically good cake.

                        - Not enough basing is hosted in this little zone we all call our occasional home. The idea behind hiring basers has for a while been to increase the amount of base games being hosted. It will be curious to see if this'll come to fruition.

                        - Basers are supposedly more pleasant and maybe less hostile/obsessive about their SS. Who knows. It's a pretty subjective statement to make, but hey, it's fun to stereotype!

A lot of hires are also made on the basis of people appearing knowledgeable and mature.

For the record, I definitely am not a baser; I do play, but usually just pub, though my squad does occasionally enjoy losing at base. I've been playing since 96 and have the skills of an uncoordinated child with Downe syndrome. I do code a bit, though, proving that being a productive behind-the-scenes contributor to TW really can land you staff, even if you stay away from smod cyber in ?go base.

As for a fix to getting cheater calls in elim/belim answered more often: we need more mods with plenty of spare time. Contrary to popular belief, staff isn't easy or particularly fun, though it of course has its moments or else nobody would keep going. People come and go, and people get burnt out. Sometimes after working 8 hours you don't want to get on and work another 8. Maybe just 2 or 3. I don't think that hiring elimmers or belimmers in particular will help, because priority is definitely not given to any specific kind of cheater call (that's apparently a misconception), and usually it's pretty easy to see if some guy's teaming or hiding anyhow. It's just that for one reason or another staff is stretched thin at times. I'm making an elim ban bot (you're spec'd if banned) to aid with the whole elim cheater issue, if that'll help strike the fear of God into anyone -- who knows. Maybe it'll lighten the load up a bit.

Yeah, I know, novel. Well, go stick a stick in a stick and smoke it.
"You're a gentleman," they used to say to him. "You shouldn't have gone murdering people with a hatchet; that's no occupation for a gentleman."

                            1. leaf, u arent in the group im talking about at all. you were hired shortly after i was like 2 years ago i think... back when paladen = staff, not basers = staff.

                            2. these comments like "if you dont like staff, fuck you" sorta thing, coming mostly from Cops and more nicely put from some staffers.... you're just all missing the point like i've said so many times. Some of you are probably good staffers, i dont care either way that you were hired. It's just there are too many of you baser and pubber staffers. Kim tried to say it too there, you just need people who know the dueling area's of tw.

im not trying to say "ALL BASERS SUCK AT BEING STAFFERS" like some of you seem to be perceiving it, so just try to keep that in mind
                            ...

What makes you think it's so impossible for a "baser" to know what it looks like when people are teaming? The whole point of view of this thread is ridiculous. FFleader's argumentation is as flawed as the rest of the thread.

If I saw any of these people enter the baseelim arena to answer a cheater call, their total visits into the arena are countable: Worr, Jacklyn, Cool Koen, LMAO, qan, spacedust, danger, rucci, plus alot of the baser Zh's. We're talking about people who barely stepped into the arena before. AND even if you get ppl who do get into the arena sometimes, like Dameon Angell or Cool Koen who have the bare bones of what teaming in baseelim is, sometimes he doesn't really know what to do in a teaming/trucing situation. I also understand sometimes there are gray areas when depicting who is teaming/trucing and who is not, THEN there are other times where just because there are 3 ppl of one squad in the game at once with 2 others who aren't in the squad, the 3 people are AUTOMATICALLY considered teaming. Players who are accustomed to what goes on in baseelim will know their way around the leaks and cracks, just as how basers can tell if someone is intentionally tk'ing or not. It's as simple as that. Choosing players who are efficient in their field will only improve the staff's performance in dealing with elim/baseelim issues.
