Retirement threads

Instead of bitching and complaining about how blood is an idiot for making his opinion known, I figured I'd just throw my 2 cents in on the actual matter he was presenting.

To the TW Forums Staff:

Make a sub-forum for retirement threads. Have it locked so people can only reply and when you see a worthy thread, move it there. Many people would say, how can we let staff decide whos retirement threads are worthy? I can give you 2 answers.

1) Find and read Valiant's retirement thread.
2) The second the person starts playing again, delete their thread.

That should keep things clean. Could take some extra work, so let's just sit here and bitch some more instead.

"Keeping things clean" is not the problem. There's a lot of crap on these forums that the clutter of retirement threads is hardly an issue. What you're proposing is just too much work and micromanagement for something that can be solved by just not reading them if you don't want to. I mean, it's not like these threads come with deceptive titles like "Hey, read this!" or "IMPORTANT NEWS INSIDE (click here!)". Instead, they come with titles like "goodbye", "It's time to retire" or "It's been fun". Retirement threads don't usually sneak up on you.


These things happen in cycles anyways. Historically, retirement threads tend to pop up in bunches around this time of year, and then you get maybe just a couple in the rest of the year. This is the time of year when people get their first report cards or when December midterms are approaching, and people often retire because they want to buckle down and focus on school.

I like Capital Knockers idea EXCEPT don't delete the threads. Just let the threads accumulate in another section called "Retirement"->Post your retirement theads here! Then if you want to look at them you can. If not, don't.

Can we put a stop to this? Make a forum staff policy to delete every "Hey guys I'm leaving" -thread on sight? Everyone who cares you're 'retiring' from a spaceship game you've propably already talked to in-game and they'll find the forum post quite useless. In fact, I find each and every one of these ridiculous. I find 'retiring' from this game ridiculous. I find trying to fish for attention with these retirement threads on the forums REALLY ridiculous. Laughable. Stop it.
