Trench wars is dying.... Help?

The zone population has definitely decreased, and will probably continue to. Something drastic has to happen to save this zone (and the game) in my opinion, the game has to have some massive exposure to increase the player base.

The problem is... New Players are not getting accepted into the games.
1. It usually takes quite a while for a new player to find out about twd and the fun of events.
2. After getting into a squad, the squad is usually inactive
3. Base, javduel, wbduel,( the only places where there is competition except tourny which takes a long to finish and newbs always go out first round) the places that actually have a win or lose would not pick the new players no matter how much they beg
4. New players tend to get mocked and rejected by older players
5. Its hard for people to recognize the new players no matter how much they get better. Seems like a pointless struggle.

K.. being a newb player myself with 1400 usage, i experienced this first handed. Most of the people, after being killed by me, will whine and call it luck cause of my age, usage, name etc ...even though i am decent in all ships. I couldnt even get into an twl squad, but somehow became the cap of a twl squad. Yes, i know i left heracy, i am not active enough to be a cap, its because i dont really play anymore except a bit on weekends. Everytime i log on and try to find a twd match, no opponents. The players of this game have to be more open minded and accept others.

Mostly correct. Death Star Battle has a truly exceptional tutorial arena. You should ask them very nicely to copy their tutorial arena into TW, maybe take out some of the options that don't concern us. While I don't think it'll necessarily save Trench Wars, and while I'm not convinced TW needs to/should be saved, it would certainly help.

Its not just TW its ALL of subspace, i don't think any of the zones are reaching those levels. If there was ever a time subspace in general needs marketing help this is it imo.

However I see little point marketing a game which is now unplayable to a significant section of its population, im thinking of quitting TW if the lag problems with it don't improve, i probably will play DSB for a bit, get bored then quit game. DSB's population was higher last night than it was in the screenshot, what does that tell you, people are leaving TW for DSB because of the lag problems.

I started playing in late 2004. Maybe staff should look back to 2004/2005 and see what settings we had in pubs then. Those settings attracted and retained players. The settings in pub at the moment are a pain in the ass, i hate playing there now, its very controlling. Give pubbers back there freedom to lame and trash talk. Alot of the time i login and there is no levi pub. No one is online to fix the problem, I log off again.

Remove timed games from pub, keep first pub pure, leave rest alone. Turn weasel back into the small one that could cloak indefinatly, and had x-radard but cant do that rushing shot. Bring back the special weekend pub maps. (levi mkII and nightwasp etc)

what are these lag-problems you're talking about? i'm from europe and has experienced lag-problems once, and that was when everyone else experienced it too.

I have an idea for bringing in new players... how about when they get to our homepage they glance in the bottom right and see a thread called "this game is dying! don't bother starting!"... just a suggestion

Personally I dont think anybody's doing shit cuz everyone is just suggesting things..... who are you suggesting it to? i've seen staffers suggest things.

Get off your lazy ass and do something productive for the zone yourself, don't make other people do it.

Want someone to make a poster? Go do it yourself. Print it at a fedex kinkos and post it up at a subway station or something.

The only reason I'm not doing this myself (by the way I've done it in the past, I work in the copy center at a lawfirm) anymore is because I was permanently banned (which is another reason why the population is dieing. Guess how many people get banned in a day? roughly 10 people a day. That's 70 people a week. Are you kidding me?)

what else to do? perhaps change the maps more often, especially for competitive arenas- this is like playing halo in the same arena every year (akin to doom or something of that nature#)!! get some of the staff that don't do anything but laze or hire new developers to create new maps to be used every new season for games, minus strikeball because ze map is très bon. donc, take tips from other multiplayer games and allow for diversity of gameplay in any way possible. distension is a good example. more!!!

so people have left, many of them our friends that really had nothing in common except the game, which is as sweet a brotherhood as drinking or smoking buddies as far as i'm concerned. we get disappointed and we start to leave, too. and the chain pulls and twirls, until the population hovers twice below what it was, as ! pointed out.

now, what can we do to attract new players if the older players don't come back after we advertise more online (Especially on frequently visited sites, or google email or something, people will mention spaceships and we'll get them to link it to us on the right side with PLAY FREE SPACESHIP GAME - or just link them to the pallies videos and have a link at the end of we play them, or perhaps a shorter compilation could be composed. in any case, we could advertise to getcontinuum.com also because that is a great site for newbies) and they will come. what we as players can do is try and play in more public places like cafés or with friends (who you wouldn't be embarassed or feel judged playing with i guess, i thought i''d mention this in response to any retaliation like "omgz he plaÿz with his freinds!11") and just try and show them something interesting without being too nerdy about it. it's true, most may not like it, but perhaps with more innovations we could spice up the appeal, which come with time. so, play in public places and try and promote interest says it's free and easy to learn and fun. i see people playing a lot of stupid online games and while many will say "no brohhh, not for me, man," some may say yes.
