the lancaster is a great pub ship ^^
but if you want to get competitive then it's lacking if you've not got a better team

the x-radar is useless since x's aren't allowed in competition.

it's been used in ?go base to great effect, but that's cuase it was uneven teams - and even then if you put the person in a spider it would probably been even more onesided.

Spiders can take out a lanc easily at close range when the lanc has shot, and when they attach in the heat of battle defending a terr can let off a few shots rather than one if lucky

since most base is quite close range and the ability to meerly shoot quickly more important than the power your bullets have, spiders wins - if you shoot a guy 3 times don't kill him and die well your team mate spider can aim and kill him now he's drained.

you can play lanc there but everyone vote's wb pretty much

You won't get a quality game without having someone decent playing the key roles in a base match. If you have a bad terrier/sharks, it almost won't matter how good the rest of your team are, and you'll have a game with no balance or fun.

Most squads feel compelled to play only spiders in base matches, because they aren't up the the challenge of adapting new gameplay and tactics.

There are squads, like us, Disoblige, fucking faggots, that doesn't mind experimenting with ships and lines. Try seeking out squads that wants the same as you, or create your own.

Oh, and the most important tip:

When going into ?go base, and you get captain for the first time, don't panic. Ask the staff member who started it for help on picking a decent line. New players doesn't know who to pick, that's ok, get help with it. Fucking newbies doesn't know who to pick and refuses to take advice, that's not ok.

TWBD (Trench Wars Basing Division) is a to 15 minutes played, 8 on 8 basing match -- similar to the pub flagging game. Teams will set lineups based on simple restrictions (1 terr, 2 shark maximum, no levs) and will be allowed 2 shipchanges during the match. The three most common lineups are Euro Style (1 Terr, 2 Sharks, 1 Jav, 4 Spiders), Western World Style (1 Terr, 2 Sharks, 2 Javs, 3 Spiders), and Pallies Style (1 Terr, 2 Sharks, 1 jav, 3 spiders, 1 warbird)- but I urge you to explore as many different combinations as you can. Points are scored for any kill, but the object of the game is to control the flag/base for totally 15 minutes while killing your enemies. You could out kill your opponents 2:1 and still lose if you do not hold the flag those 15 minutes. THE FLAG IS WHERE THE MONEY IS.
