Elim 2.0 Discussion

  • I know this may sound stupid for some people, but I think spawning is an excellent part of elim, makes people hunger for revenge and play more. This is why I call for Spawn (NC) to be removed.

    I also think it should be removed from baseelim (kill outside base) or modified a bit, as there have been a couple of issues with people getting kills in base which were NC for some reason.

      I've shortened the spawn kill time to 1 second... which basically means it will only NC if a bullet is already heading towards you when you spawn. I haven't gotten many opinions on the outside base thing... It's easy to add/remove so just let me know what you guys think.

        I like the outside base. But I don't think anyone else notices it. shh. before they start finding something to complain about it.

          maybe u want revenge when u get spawned but for myself and alot of other when i get spawned it pisses me off and makes me wanna do something else cause lame newbies get free kills for having no skill at all

          • A couple of things I have noticed.

            #1. There ARE full charge greens in elimbeta...
            #2. The streak thing sounded like a cool idea, but it is going to make getting a good ratio a whole lot harder. When someone has a streak, everyone is going to try to kill that player. Thus, he/she is going to get teamed until the streak is broken... I don't think elim was ever supposed to be like that. Now you have a big target on your back. Just my 2¢.

              The full greens are uncommon enough that it's fine the way it is. It's less common than in TWDD and nobody has ever cared enough to change it there.

              Teaming will never get rampant enough without getting stopped by staff than 2 maybe 3 people on you at most. And if you can't take care of that on your own and just be glad people feed you (which is what happens to me pretty often), then I think it's more a personal issue than a global one.

              On a side note however, there is another form of abuse that I have seen more prevalent, and I think my proposed solution can kill two birds with one stone. Whenever someone has 3 or more elim win streaks, you get like a flood of 15 people or so that come to stop it, and they all vote 1 deaths in unison, as a cheap way to end the streak. This seems to counterbalance the factor of the streaks, not to mention a lot of people get upset over 1 death elim in general.

              So, my proposition, is to make it so that 1 death elim is temporarily disabled while the streak is in play. Not only will this prevent this abuse, but the other bird this stone kills is that elims to 1 will be more used more sparingly, as there will be a limit to when it can be enacted in elim against the will of those who weren't paying attention and didn't care to put in their vote for '10' or '5' as they would have otherwise.

              Another thing that may be interesting since I see you guys talk about putting in counters or streak counts etc..maybe put in a stat that records how many streaks a person has ended?

              After playing for a bit my only concerns other than this are - it still seems annoying to figure out who is actually in the bottom arena out of the f2 people, and also there is some funky score glitch that is making it very frustrating to play as you can never tell what score the other players have beccause the f2 scores seem to freeze up or lag and are almost never accurate. I don't know what is causing it but it ends up having me constantly guessing how many deaths or kills anyone has and it gets a bit annoying.

              • Good idea for elims to 1. There already is a stat for how many streaks a player has broken, but currently it only shows on the website. I am working on that F2 problem, but I did add a !who command which will accurately tell you who is left and what their scores are. I will make it alphabetical soon for easier use.

                  They really need to take it out of TWD because TWL has them removed completely. Old elim also had them removed entirely.

                  As for teaming, even with sub 10 players, I had 2 or 3 following me around. In normal elim, I would get like 3 or 4 following me around, even without a streak. THus, I'll probably be up to 7 or 8 trying to gank me. But I guess we'll see...

                  • Is it possible to make the bot do another streak like I was saying before, how many kills you can get in a row without missing a shot? like an accuracy streak? Obviously low priority and doesnt even need a stat on the page but its just another fun little thing to compete with others with.

                    I dunno if its even possible with jav having bombs and bullets though

                        • On a side note, I think the streak counter is typo'd at one point.

                          It goes something like -

                          Rampage! (9:0)

                          Dominating! (11:0)

                          Unstoppable! (13:0)

                          God Like! (11:0)

                          See the problem with God Like? I think it should be 16:0. (Aside from the fact that I think you should change it to 'God-like!' as 'God Like' seems somewhat out of context).

                            • Why couldnt you just make the ranking system like it was on Robo_Ref's before with !rank command? Everyone's used to it. Aside from that, it's ambiguous what determines your rank, and what a 'good' rank even looks like. Before, when kills = deaths, your rank is at 300 assuming the average rank of players you've killed amounts to 300. Now we see shitty newbies like Spacely with 1100+ something rating for god knows what.

                                You're obviously out of the loop. The rating is calculated the same as Robo_Ref's and the old !rank command is now !stats as its a more fitting title. The !rank command is now used to find... well... ranks! Wow, that makes sense.
