It would be nice level easier. Year ago Distension was in beta and the leveling was much nicer and smoother, nobody has 12 hours

What's wrong with letting people hit max-ish rank in a reasonable amount of time? If they want to keep progressing they can change ships. IMHO, RP requirements should be dramatically lower, say 100k to rank 50 and maybe 10 million to 80. Let's be realistic, most of us don't play Continuum like a full-time job these days.
There are good reasons why it should be difficult to rank up:
    • To avoid having to reset too often.
    • Having most people mid-ranking makes the game more fun. A base full of high powered ships leads to too many random deaths due to bigger bombs, more reps and bursts, killer shrap etc.

I saw qan say something about wanting the levels to max out around rank 50, and after that are just "prestige" ranks that add a bit to your ship, but take a very long time to achieve.

It's kinda funny that some ships have really good abilities at rank 79/80ish but will never see them. =p Like, spider gets level 3 bullets at rank 79 I believe.

I'll say it right now; no one will EVER max out a ship at the current RP rates. It's just not feasible. TW will die out before anyone gets to rank 80 in a ship.

Not so. Distension with few players is lots better than no Distension at all.

Who is we? I want to get thoroughly bored of it! I am looking forward to having it readily available so I can play it until I get bored of it. Then I can do something else for a bit and perhaps come back later to play until I get bored of it all over again!

So let them. What is the problem with that? That is the point of having a game with different levels!

so wed have to institute a (bi)monthly reset or something.
I think the ships max out at around level 80 or something. According to the numbers Cheese posted here this takes over ten thousand times the total amount of RP of the highest level ship we have so far. Even if I could play for 24 hours every day and find enough other high level players to get decent RP it would take me much more than a month or two to get just one of my ships maxed out at current RP rates. Even with special RP multiplying events I can't see it making sense to reset it more than once a year.

Actually I like this idea but I have a few musings:

perhaps an automated timer? With the current set up. the game goes continuously without stop. And perhaps a limit of.. 12 hours a day (as test). There are other things that can be done.

We do not want peopel getting bored with this and seriously .. and really It wouldnt take long for some of those with no lives to get way far ahead of the new ones.. so wed have to institute a (bi)monthly reset or something.

The bot was constantly supervised by staff and had to be fixed During the 24/7 hostathon this last weekend. But I get your point stab.

Btw the base system still has its flaws.. there are times that we still dont have base starting . So perhaps a more liberal access given to staff.

Finally, I hope that we can have this finished by years end.

Agreed with stab. Let the players decide when it is hosted by being in the arena.

I have a proposal that I think would be simplest and best for the game. Just make it similar to ?go base/wbduel/javduel and have the bot sit in the arena 24/7. Give some trustworthy players (from both NA and Europe) the basic power just to start the bot if there are enough people in the arena to play a game. It should do a zoner announcement on starting (perhaps only if there are not a certain number of players in the arena), which would let people know it's running and let them get into the arena.

I believe this is the best solution, because:

    a) it's very easy to implement
    b) better than a schedule, because it will give everyone a chance to play without having to schedule their day around being able to play the game
    c) better than having it 24/7, as it will ensure there are enough people to have a decent game
    d) uses a tried and true method that's been used in ?go base for years without issue

It's already been proven with last weekend's 24/7 tests that the game is stable enough to be run without staff supervision. I think most players would agree with me that this is probably the best solution. I hope that qan and the rest of staff will consider this proposal.

SINCE DISTENSION WAS A ZONE CHAT, it had the exact same moderating capacity as it would as if it were local, you could have done the same either way.

    MAKE DISTENSION PUBLIC CHAT AGAIN
Its not a zone chat. sorry. You obviously are unaware of the trenchwars policies. I suggest you contact a SMod+. Thank you.
