IT MAKES IT MORE FUN. When you get bored of your level 50 ship and you have nothing else, its rather discouraging. Try evening out, it also makes you a lot more helpful to your team.

Hi,

Just got back from my 7 day cruise. Spring break was expensive this year, but there was a free open bar in Costa Maya that I went to. Yummeh. I think Belize was the best port we went to, I went snorkeling ^.^ I'm as burnt as a lobster, and it kinda hurts to move anything, but I still managed to have lots of fun. I took lots of pictures, I will be uploading them to facebook soon ^.^

Every single time the bot calls for Assist, somebody obliges, yet I am the only person to have been banned for it, and banned twice.
So out of the hundreds of times the bot has called for assist, the two times I did it are the only two times it has been "abusing"?

I've Noticed It's Been Like This Since Rank 53 When I Upgraded The Rp Share To 9%. I Tried To Scrap And Reupgrade And That Didn't Fix It. Next Time I'm Going To Try To Scrap It Once And Keep It Like That For A Game.

There is a rule right there in the F1 menu of Distension: DO NOT CONSISTENTLY USE ASSIST TO THE DETRIMENT OF YOUR TEAM.

Also, it should be noted that the only person that's been punished for this is someone that constantly, beyond doubt, hops to the other team because their original team sucks. People (well, really just one obsessed Australian) are making a huge deal out of this and it really isn't one. Really, the majority of Distension players have been pretty good about the whole assist thing.

The bot definitely needs to take into account things like previous round wins, hold percentage, give much greater strength to a team that has 2 terriers, greater weight difference for sharks/terrs, less weight for low ranked ships, not allowing people to "assist" away from a team that has only 1 terr, etc. The only thing the bot looks at is the very flawed "strength" of each player which is a very poor representation of how good the team actually is. Until then, use common sense.

And stab, let the record show that i assisted 3 times after every time i DC'd. I never hopped back to my prev freq voluntarily. I dc, reconnect, re-enter my ship and got placed back on the OLD freq, hence why i assisted again to be on the freq i was on the whole time. I've put many hours in the beta testing of this, i would be one of the last to abuse the system.

So before accusing me of abusing !assist, look a little more into it, kay? thx

Unless you play very badly any assist you make should be to the detriment of your team.

So clearly you must not assist consistently. :unsure:

Definitely the assist system needs some tweaking: Recently I turned up late to a session, quickly jumped in, saw an assist message telling me there was a 200+ point imbalance and immediately assisted for a 1500RP bonus. Only then did I notice that the first battle hadn't even started yet and the imbalance was there because most people were still in spec waiting. Clearly there was no detriment to my team as there was nothing much going on and I hadn't been there long enough to be consistent but I didn't deserve any RP for such a pointless assist.

I suggest limiting assists to when your team has a sector hold or a goal advantage before adding more complex balancing algorithms.

But I guess if you want me to be pseudo-ly constructive, I guess you could try make it so the bot won't ask the strong losing team to assist based on certain criteria (Your team has 2 terrs/sharks, something like that). Then it pretty much is your team's fault that you are stronger but still suck, or maybe it will make people play other ships.

Yes, I already suggested a bunch of things like this to qan. Everyone knows the way the bot handles assists is flawed, and that's why we ask the players to use common sense. Tagmor was on the losing team that had no terr, complained there was no terr, and then 10 seconds later "assisted" the winning team that had 2 terrs.
