double squadded for a night, banned within a few hours on both names. 2 week ban. whatever, signed up another name, banned within 2 days. ban extended 11 days.
look, whatever, i broke the rules, ban me. but 2 weeks? extended 11 days? come on, is the zone gonna be alive in a month? maybe i would've respected a 3 day ban, but 2 weeks? dude.
i understand mods are there to keep the peace and whatnot, but considering the dire straits that trenchwars is in, perhaps it is high time they reevaluate what's important and what's not.
for starters, anyone that says the first three letters of 'night' more than once is guaranteed at least a 1 day ban. in a drunken stupor once i believe i said it about 5 times in a span of 5 lines and got a 3 day ban for it. naturally this is the easiest thing to ban for because it's "racism" - but one has to ask, how many black people actually play this game? 3? how many times do we see "gook" and "chink" and nothing ever gets done about that? i argue that at least 15-20% of the population of trenchwars is asian, perhaps that's actually a more worthwhile term to look for.
just something to think about.
secondly, is double squadding during the offseason that big of an offense? for christs sake, we're not qualifying for twl here, that's the next reset. what double squadding effectively does during offseason is 1. results in higher twd activity and 2. gives people more practice. sure, put stringent dsing rules in place during the twl reset / twl season, that's for good reason, but offseason?
third, as a frequent double squadder / aliaser during previous offseasons, often times with decent ladder squad and a bottom-feeder (dingus, my little ponies, deadly divas, etc), what that effectively does is show the newer players on the lower-ranked squads what it feels like to win a twd against a good squad, what it means to be competitive against the likes of dice, fierce, sweet, etc. otherwise, they just don't have a chance, and are much more likely to just give up after a few weeks as opposed to really latching on to this game and its community. it's fun to play with a good player that covers your back, it's cool to watch your teammate win a 1v3 end of game, it's a good learning experience to team with them, etc. where else do you find guys like riverside, who seemingly came out of nowhere last season to suddenly be a starting twld wb?
fourth, two weeks + 11 days = 25 days? you serious? prior to twdt i had about two months where i just didn't play the game, maybe log on once every few days to play a few elim games at night. i reckon this is what a lot of people who lose interest in this game do now. maybe they show up again for twl, but every season we have less and less squads. especially in twd, which in turn reduces twl population.
and you are banning one of the most active people in tw, one of the most contributing non-staff members of tw, for pretty much A MONTH? for double squadding, which hurts nobody but helps many?
i was already planning to fade into obscurity again after twdt is over, but perhaps it might happen before that.
again, i double squadded, i admit that, i broke the rules. but the severity of that offense given the current offseason and the current state of trenchwars, nowhere near approaches that of the length of ban. if there were 10 people left in trench wars, would you ban one of them double squadding? for racism? how about if there were 20 people? 50? 100? when's the cutoff, and when should you start rethinking the reason for these bans.
25 days? staff (read: stabwound), perhaps you should reconsider.
