HMS has some some nice stratagem here, 6 months ago he was most hated guy in TW, the angry mob was searching for the quality assurance mod and they wanted blood, but HMS first offered up Ara, then he deflected attention to TT, now he come in to "save" us all. Expect HMS to declare himself emperor soon.

HMS, while that not be the ideal punishment I had in mind, I think it's awesome that you guys listened to us, had a discussion, and came to a decision. Whether or not that would have happened later on or at all had these threads not been made is something other people (eph) can argue about. I am not 100% satisfied with this decision but if he really has to talk to another mod before making any rash decisions than I guess I can't really complain too much as this would probably solve a majority of the problems with him banning people shortly after warning without giving them time to cooperate.

The real issue is however this is now the second time that staff has "come down" on trancetunes for the same behavior and I have read from numerous mods that Trancetunes has done nothing wrong, or that this is a witch hunt. How about on top of this we have some accountability from the people who are supposed to be leaders in this zone to not blindly protect one of their own and tell people if they don't like it to log off, but instead to agree that there is or might be a problem that needs to be addressed and they will look into it. I don't think that the sole responsibility of being the voice of reason for staff should fall on you're shoulders HMS. Would it really have been that hard for MM to maybe offer some forum correspondence to some of the people complaining including the_paul instead of suggesting that he should log in and talk to him when it seems obvious that he isn't on at the same times. A simple ?find the_paul when you wake up and log in at 6am and seeing he went to bed around 5 hours before and is obviously still sleeping would have been easy enough.

The players don't just want staffers who are seen as problematic to the zone either removed from staff or lose the ability to issue out unwarranted bans, especially bans that have comments calling the player a "prick" because it seems like the rules were purposefully broken in a way to get rid of a player that the staffer obviously has emotional ties to. It is the reason there are rules regarding a staffer on a squad not taking a cheater call in a match his squad is involved in. Really the root cause here needs to be fixed otherwise in a month and a half we are back here again on square one arguing on the forums about this guy abusing.

unwarranted bans is my department kthx, and something im keeping an eye on, not just with tt but all staff. Obviously it may take awhile to make some of the changes we need, but it is progressing forward steadily. If i compare last month to 3 months prior for example, there was a 48% reduction in bans.
There will always be unhappy people, i cant change that, but we can try to minimise it as much as possible, and something hms, myself and all other upper staff are committed to doing.

After having a talk with the deans, spacehiker and our new BanG Op Demonic, we have decided:

Trancetunes is a valued staffer, he has a drive that we need on staff. However his actions are not appropriate and need to be corrected. He has been put on a probationary period (Length undetermined but likely a month), in which he will be working on all the calls he takes with a long time moderator.

This will serve everyones purpose here.

Trance gets to remain on staff, and gets the training he wants to become a better staffer.
The playerbase gets accountabilty from its staff.

We have also brought back the 'head trainer' position and have placed Hurricane as the SMod in charge of this department. He will be working with deans and I on how to incorporate professionalism and proper knowledge into his department.

On a personal note: I want you to know that the upperstaff do see your complaints. Generally speaking one of my jobs is to be the PR guy for the staff. I am on this forum 3-4 times a day if not more, and bring any complaints to the rest of the upperstaffs attention.

As i was reading this thread of was waiting until the end where I could tell staff how they might actually become respected among alot of players if they actually did something to trance that we could see was a result of our efforts. I'd say this counts, thanks hms.

Ren, I think that you started a thread with good intentions and you gave a specific actual experience you had. Nothing wrong with that. But surely you can see that this whole thing turned into a flame-fest with not a lot of objective empirical data behind it.
My opinion is that there is nothing wrong with posting subjective flame-fests, for whatever reasons many in TW love the drama. So be it. But when people try to start making it sound like it is objective, when clearly they simply dislike a person (or in this case they appear to be rallying around the age-old dislike of the racism policy), it loses value in my mind. I also think that is discourages others from considering being a staffer.
But, this is just my subjective opinion and I could be wrong. :P

while i do truly dislike trancetunes..A LOT, ive had more than enough personal experiences and witnessed instances to where i feel justified for my "witch hunt" and i dont think the others that havent are just flaming him for the heck of it. i think theyre reading the actual incidents and are communicating their own opinions on them and its pretty obvious the popular consensus is trancetunes needs to be axed. ty come again

I took the time to analyze just one of the threads on this topic, the one named 'TranceTunes Again'
36 - total posts in thread
23 - total unique user posts
12 - total posts that were clearly in against TT
9 - total posts with unique user that were clearly in against TT
1 - total posts where user supplied an actual example of abuse

Perhaps this is why some think reasonable people feel that this has been a witch hunt, a very small minority of posts have actually supplied real examples of abuse/wrong doing. If people really desired to make a case against him I would recommend that instead of threads that encourage subjective opinions, compile a objective list of actual examples of abuse.
It is my opinion that a person could write a book on how NOT to get someone removed from staff by recording how this has been handled by you guys.

I agreed to make it possible for you to make the poll once you returned to see of the rule in place about "twitterfaggotry" was unacceptable. I did not agree to do the poll for you during the ban, as that would consititute breaking forum rules, by posting for you.
