As a marketing professional working for one of the largest software companies in world. I'm going to let you people know that your puny little $5k wouldn't make a dent in your population. You guys are deluded if you think $5k is "alot" of money. We spend tens of thousands of dollars on events that are properly "marketed" for category products towards a target customer base of over a thousand people and only bring in 50-60 people and even then, it is considered a success.

Not only that but Continuum's core value prop is next to zilch. What you need is true viral marketing and a guerilla campaign.

Anything you guys discuss about working with SEO is completely out of your budget and sustainable results are questionable. Let's just say any desirable keywords that you'd actually want are far and beyond your budget.

There are better ways to spend your $5k than marketing and advertising. Trust me when I tell you there isn't nearly any shot of getting true, sustainable, measurable gains with only $5000.

A professional marketing company will laugh you out the door if you are asking for sustainable gains and only planning on spending $5000. If you were spending $50,000 you might have a shot at actually seeing some sort of growth.

I'm adamant that $5k can go a very long way in helping the population, even if we have to hand select websites to put a couple of banners on or whatever, theres a-lot we can do with $5k. I can't believe you're trying to compare the marketing of 'events' for a corporation... to a 2D online spaceship game? Are you for real, Creature? We're not going out and putting up fliers, posters and aiming to buy billboards here, are we? So your paragraph there is completely worthless, if anything its just there to make yourself sound good.

Continuum's core value might be nothing, in your eyes, but we can make something out of what we've got, it's very possible we could turn this into an arcade MMO top down shooter with ways to keep players involved via the new website, forum and alongside the android application and desktop notification application with levels, achievements and other features that modern games seem to utilise these days.

I'm 100% confident they will put this 'puny' $5k to good use.

Hell probably suggest you do what I have been suggesting for years.

Nix the website that isn't even made yet, get the money back that you paid 24/arobas for their time supposedly spent on it, go to armorgames or kongregate and talk to some of the popular flash game designers offer them 1000 dollars to have an advertisement for continuum load up on the flash game loading screen (some games are like 5-10 mb so that might be from anywhere from 5-30 seconds), next go to illegal rom sites that specialize in older gaming console roms and emulators and offer them money to do a promo for the game so that while people who are looking for games with shitty graphics are looking through roms we can offer them a free MMO with shitty graphics they can play for free legally.

I was never getting paid for any of my efforts, and arobas+ never got paid because we were still looking for a competent designer. Now that we have one, the website is currently in the works of being built.

I like your ideas on how/where to advertise, always have. I put up a post before about doing just that, and it was shot down saying it was a waste of money to do it before the website is completed.

Now that the completed website is within sight, it's time to start pushing towards a strong marketing campaign. There's no point in waiting until we have a "complete" website to "start" advertising, let's get started now.

If anyone wants to help in the TW Marketing Initiative, contact Diakka. He will be spear heading this initiative. We want to get started now, so that when it's built we'll have a steady stream of traffic coming to the site.

Anyone with Internet Marketing experience would be helpful as well. There seems to be a lot of people that say "It's easy, go do this", but never actually volunteer to do it themselves. We need people that will go out and do the work.

Last I heard Arobas quit doing the website, and considering he never put up that demo he offered I am assuming that not much of the site is actually done or it won't be as amazing as staff was hoping it would be.

I am very interested in knowing when the money was donated by each player also a chart to see the aging process on money not used by "powers that be". KTHX bringing the pressure! Keep it up........

The story that the game is going to be advertised is getting old.

We'll shoot out all the money for a new and hopefully better website. As soon as the Website is completed, we have an awesome looking site that is easy to operate with, but there won't be any new players that will enjoy it. We have a little amount to use for advertising, we hopefully get a bunch of new players by it. Considering the fact that it takes almost a year to make a website, imagine how long it will take until the advertising starts.

Anyways, for the case we get new players, we have another utter problem to go with:
New players mostly do this:
1) Download Trenchwars -
2) Install the game
3) Enter the room with the most players (i.e. Trenchwars)
4) Read a huge information text? "No"
5) Look at the game
6) Can't really handle it
7) Tries it out for a bit, Helpticker and !tutorial maybe something to go with
8) can't kill anyone, no idea what the point of the map is
9) Logs Off.
10) Never will know about the new shiny, glittery and unbelieably incredible website www.trenchwars.org because he was never told about it.


Idea for a Solution:

Upload a new Installer. As soon as someone agrees with the terms / or presses the "install" button, the www.trenchwars.org website should open up automatically. By that, every new player has knowledge about the site existing and can start to operate on it, maybe finding the things he's actually interested in even before he tried playing the game. Staff needs to take "New Player Calls" serious, as in really handling them, helping the players so that they can understand the game. Every new player is worth it, but as soon as i start to look at the decreasing population, i realise something's going wrong.
