Streaks are removed for going into safe?? Well that's the stupiest thing I have heard lol, what if you need to pee mid streak. Although I don't want to get too involved, I think ill ask kryn to drop that for a start.

      • so it should be perfectly reasonable that you can touch safe once every 30 minutes so you can "pee", and other dickbags that only leave safe to fire a bullet, then immediately cower in safe to keep their "streaks" going get reset

        • Pub money system has increased a lot of ppl in pub at the start when I created.

I don't know how it is now.

Wish good luck on the decisions!

          • While private frequency LTs who ruin basing will undoubtedly become a big problem once again, now that the overpowered bomb is back (and 4 repels, too...and right from the start), I have found a bigger problem is the ability to buy idiotic things like "epidemic", "warp the team into base" and ownership of the flag. What's the point of having a good defense if the other team can just teleport in or buy the flag? Introducing these things was yet another in a long string of stupid decisions made by the staff.

One such decision was giving money to people who claim the flag with only a few seconds to go. What's the fucking point? People tried to claim the flag before their team lost before they were rewarded with pub bux, and they will continue to do so after the pub bux are gone. All this moronic "feature" does is create a special group of retards who hold off on grabbing the flag in order to get money for it in the last few seconds of the round.

Why exactly was the map changed back to the way it was in the early 2000s? And why was it changed to begin with?

I think there would be fewer people feeling short"changed" by changes if they were announced ahead of time. "But we announced them in a thread!" Most people who play Continuum don't even know these forums exist, let alone visit them. All announcements should be in-game, with full justification for the intended changes. Yes, there will be more whining, but so what? Actually, since the staff only take whining into consideration in order to justify stupid decisions ("hey, it's ok to ruin basing with private frequency LTs and overpowered levis because there was a poll"), that extra whining could be a problem. Even so, more people would feel like their opinion mattered (it still wouldn't, and the staff would continue to be incompetent and selfish (it's usually mods doing the private frequency LTing). It would be like real-life voting - something to trick the peasants into thinking they have a say.

Finally, why aren't repeat TKers banned permanently? "Because we don't have many people, so we can't ban anyone." What an idiotic way to think. Why aren't they at least banned permanently from bombing ships? "Because we're stupid and afraid to make a stand that might offend the dregs of the game." The fact that this zone is so uppity about racism (except when it's against whites), something which is easily removed with ?ignore, and turns a semi-blind eye to chronic TKers shows the screwed up priorities of the staff.

The only reason why I would want to be a mod is so I can ban TKers immediately. I've been playing this game for almost 11 years now, and I don't see why I am any less trustworthy than a mod. At the very least, there should be some "informers" who can be relied on to report intentional TKs and the mods who respond to reports can go directly to banning (yeah, right) or warning or ship-changing the offenders instead of sitting around for a long time in order to see the TKing for themselves. A smart TKer sees when a mod enters the arena and stops.

            • Ok….. I was disappointed that staff didn’t even give us a warning on these changes. Its bad public relations….

The new weasel changes are crap. There is no better way to put it. The weasel is now officially OP. Was in pub this morning and there was shit-loads of weasels. They are everywhere. Played it a lot yesterday, and it was too ez to pop ship without x-radar.

Speaking of x-radar, why take it off almost all the ships? They are completely defenseless now against this overpowered x. Would be nice to have it back in the shark, at the very least.

I don’t see why we can’t try a weasel with temporary stealth (uses energy.) As of now we just have a bunch of people sitting infinitely cloaked in mid-base, just waiting for some unfortunate war bird to happen into a trap. Hell, there are so many weasels now that I have seen a warbird shot by 3 weasels at the same time! Generally, if everybody starts playing a ship, it is a good sign that it is overpowered…….

I like the current weasel’s speed and bullet velocity….we can keep that. But, the infinite stealth just has to go, plain and simple. Somebody in pub suggested taking stealth and adding a brick, (Slow Farmer, I think) which sounds like a pretty groovy idea….Dunno if that would make it underpowered or not, but it would have more purpose in base matches….

I disliked the small weasel a lot, but I think even that would be better than this Lame-O-matic weasel, and atleast ships without x had a chance to see it on x-radar. It was far less lame.

And as always with these big weasels, they are kinda useless for actually getting in base. Any terr can thwart any attempt to get in with ease….

              That’s all……

              Peace and Long Life.

It's because of people like this guy, who have ideas like this, that the game sucks now.

You've got it all backwards, buddy. Quit staff before you do even more damage.

The only "specials" are the mods.

                • Or its people like you who havent been saying all along that these changes pub has had to endure have been terrible. Kryn is taking over a damn near impossible situation thats been made worse by literally all of his predecessors. Having no true feedback from the community except loud crybaby basers the game has gotten completely out of hand. I've said the same things people in these most recent threads have been saying for months, but as long as it was 'just that troll' saying them I might as well have been talking to a brick wall.

Javelin and Terrier should spawn WITH xradar, and shark should be able to !buy xradar or acquire xradar from eating greens. Also, reset everyone to $0 every couple of months.

EDIT: Disabling !buy xradar on all ships except shark is already in place. You can thank ThePAP (excellent new addition to our development team) for fixing that up so quickly.
Could you flesh out WHY you think that's a good idea? Because it sounds stupid with the current weasel and now that it's implemented it's proven to be stupid. I am not sure how much more I can play this game with such whack gameplay imbalance.

                      • Has there been a change in staff leadership lately? Every change in the last month has been terrible.

                        1. They gave super-powerful bombs back to levs. Now any newb can fire a bomb towards the base and get kills.
                        2. Then they made the weasel fully cloakable. Now any newb can kill someone without x-radar.
                        3. Now they've changed the map so the sides of FR are way open. Now any newb can attack FR with some success.

Anyone else notice the pattern? They're just making it easy for newbs. I guess that's why they call it pub. Problem is, once you've played this game more than a few hours, you start getting fed up with dying in ways you can do nothing about!

Games are about improving skill, they're not about dying to a 10 minute old newb who figured out how to cloak or decided to spam an over-powered lev bomb in the general direction of the base. What you've done is say, no matter how good you are, anyone can kill you, no matter what the gulf in skill.

I'm sorry I don't like all your stupid jav events where people hide behind walls and it takes a whole minute before anyone gets a kill. I liked pub, but now I don't see any reason to play it.

How do you kill someone you can't see? How do you dodge a lev bomb hitting anywhere near you? Those deaths are completely unavoidable, so there's no way to beat it by becoming more skillful. The key feature in all successful games is being able to improve. If improvement means playing "who's the biggest pussy" in javduel or elim, then there's nothing for me here.

I'm just glad my old zone is picking up again. Rant OVER.

From my understanding, the map was changed when we moved from having multiple pubs to having just one pub. Since the pubs were consolidated, the map of old was too small to fit everyone in it. In order to fit a much bigger crowd in, a new base that would expand was needed. Arilou's map is iconic; it's what the majority of us grew up playing on. I don't know about you, but I missed playing on it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who did either. A discussion came up about the map when ship settings were being discussed, and what you see now is the result of what came from that discussion. Opinions were grabbed and the map ended up getting the "OK."

I think there would be fewer people feeling short"changed" by changes if they were announced ahead of time. "But we announced them in a thread!" Whenever someone logs onto TW they should see a PM from TW-PubSystem informing them of any announcements.

Racism is illegal in TW, doesn't matter what color it's against. If you see racism against whites, or any other color for that matter, please send in a ?cheater call so that it may be dealt with. As for TKers, there is a system in place to handle them. Staff simply can't take the word of someone and act on it - a system like that could be abused.

I believe the ship settings (for all but the Lancaster) are back to what they originally were (minus a tweak here and there). As for the map, the intent was to stay as true as possible to the original design (with the ears staying open) with the expansions being just what they are, expansions. As for your third bullet point, to play the devil's advocate here, one could argue that if the middle ears were closed off, then any "newb" could still have gone all the way up through the sides, protected from any enemy bullets and waltz right in. :P

                            • It's like an Amish person being made President of the world and declaring that we need to go back to the Stone Age. Changes were made to the original settings to improve them; not for the hell of it. I've seen the same thing happen in other zones. A few people start saying "things were better 10 years ago, therefore we need to change the map and settings to how they were then", and suddenly it becomes the cool opinion to have. Then, while those pillocks are busy trying to out-retro each other, everyone else buggers off to play something less stupid.

Some changes have been made throughout TW's history and there's always someone upset (case in point) about the changes made. We don't make changes for the sake of change or "for the hell of it." The original Weasel and Leviathan settings were brought back with some slight tweaks here and there. "Changes were made to the original settings to improve them." Further tweaks may or may not come later on as previously noted. Aside from the Lancaster (which was changed sometime in 2007 if I'm not mistaken), the other ships have otherwise been unchanged. Up until several years ago, the base had been unchanged as well. I believe it was changed to accommodate everyone when the pubs were consolidated. The current map is different than the original in that it has phases, like the previous iterations, to accommodate a bigger crowd. Going back to the Stone Age? Hardly. :P

Rather than rant and complain about the recent changes, if you have some suggestions on how to improve upon the current settings or pub map, please let us know.
