True, pandora is on the top of ladder, but have you guys seen the lines a-s and spastic have been using recently in bds?

when i was making the schedule, i was looking at roster mostly. When i was looking at pandora's roster, i see no solid solid terr, 1 solid shark.. and about bunch of aliasers who i have no idea who the fuck they are. How am i suppose to give a squad a bye when i dont even know them? alone with that crappy/unknown roster. And please, dont give me the crap about "well, they are all aliased and they are good basers".. i dont care. if you want to be aliased and be mysterious, then be unknown to others and start off fresh.

If you dont know them you shouldnt be making a TWBD tournament because most of them ARENT aliased. Most of them are Old DSBL winners that came to TW to base and actually own at it.

true, i dont know most of pandora people. I dont care if they are DSBL w/e that is, this is Trenchwars. you wanna own? you wanna prove yourself? then fight from the bottom and beat everyone on your way. Then you have proven yourself worthy, not just by getting a bye. From all these arguments, all i can make out of it is that pandora is too much of a wuss to just quietly goin into a game and win it and prove people wrong. All im getting is that pandora wants a bye cause they are not sure they can beat sk8.

its not like dice and spastic are getting a bye and straight to semi-finals. they are still playing in quarter-finals. just like a-s, teks, bc, hp. i dont see any bashing on these 4 squads. maybe you all are just biased towards spastic. think about it... bunch of hypocrites.

Always going to be whining, but I still don't think there is any real disagreement right now that A-S, Dice, or Spastic will probably win TWLB (that is RIGHT NOW, though - as we have seen in the past, a lot happens during the season).

Plus, it's not like this tournament is TWL. The point of the tournament is to give you guys a chance to play. I would think Dice or Spastic would be here complaining that have to take a bye and not get another practice game in 2 weeks before TWL is set to start. There is no prize for winning this tourny, it's all just practice so why whine?

I sorta agree with ppl who say that this setup could be better. I'll even suggest another setup.

So I think we have 10 teams.

Randomly assign matchups for all 10 teams. 5 games. It'll look like this after the preliminary round:

1-0 team 1
1-0 team 2
1-0 team 3
1-0 team 4
1-0 team 5
0-1 team 6
0-1 team 7
0-1 team 8
0-1 team 9
0-1 team 10

top 8 teams go on to next round. The 0-1 teams are ordered by margin of loss (encourages teams to fight to the very end of a match).

now that you have 8 teams ... follow a normal 8 team tourny format.

It turns out 12 total games will need to be reffed. There are essentially 4 rounds total (including prelim round and final game). It'll look like this in this particular order:

5 games (prelim)
4 games
2 games
1 game (finals)

The format suggested atm totals to 9 games.

First I didn't care that you gave spastic a by, but then you tried to justify it and came up with crap like they are top contender for TWLB and I got pissed off.

Yes there is no way we can prove we are better when you say TWD means nothing. Our 4.5 winning ratio is a bit more impressive than spastics 1.3. And it's not because we play the easy squads.
We never lost to them with more than 5 minutes, while when we beat them it's always been over 5 minutes.

But I am not afraid we will lose versus sk8, I expect to win, like all the 8 times we played them.

Why isn't Tenure and Ancients in and therefore no discussion about the bye thing. Oh, I forgot basing has to be elitist.

And NO Spas and Dice being top contenders isn't obvious to everyone. So if you had to be elitist and ignore some basing squads you could atleast have been democratic and made that contender poll.

We actually started inviting teams to the tournament a while ago. This was probably a week and a half before Christmas or more. When we looked at the TWBD ladder to decide which teams to invite, the rankings didn't work very well. There were some squads that had not played a game in weeks, yet still would have qualified for the tournament. We decided the best way to go about it was to look at the top squads ranked by the number of games they have played. There were 10 teams that had played a lot of games; Tenure was included. At the time we made the list, Ancients had played something like 8 games since TWD had reset. I'm sorry if you got more active since then but we took the list we made then and made it final.

Every other captain besides Tenure's responded to the invitation within a few days, and we were waiting to finalize the lineup and start making the tourny layout. i.d. didn't get a response from Tenure still, so she invited Dice in their place.

Look at the layout. The way we have it setup, 2 teams will have to play one extra game. What is the big deal? If they are good, then it shouldn't matter, as they will ultimately win the tournament, right?
