Anybody remember Light? Solstice? How about adding Quicksand to that?
Anyways, Izor and the rest of the crew: You guys play your birds pretty well, obviously you've had a lot of practice and it's paid off. Now stick to it. Light crumbled when it came to important games and I think Solstice disbanded before the leagues or something. I'd hate to see it happen to you so keep practicing and take the other squads seriously. - Blood
Solstice was made out of pure pub after I came back from a few years of not playing just as a friend squad for pub fun; couple of weeks later I learned of TWD and TWL and started building up the squad competitively still out of pub stuff, and about 2 months later we got into TWL during Season 6 from the chain of Shriek dropping out (us having 300-400 points higher than 2nd place in TWDD), where we ended up beating Light etc in LD in the final few weeks and then disbanded after the season ended because I felt we accomplished our task of becoming TWL material out of pub. Solstice could only afford known talent after it's inception into TWL since I had no image or reputation to build anything from initially due to being gone for many years and not being a competitive player before that.
Anyway, I was looking at Season 6 TWLD squads and week matchups yesterday and afterwards the full Solstice TWD history that I had somewhere and I had an odd nostalgic mental retrograde by looking at our very first dd's and remembering how I used to think and feel back then, not knowing the squads and the thrill of the challenge of challenging solid competitive squads as a group of seasoned pubbers who were trying to achieve something. I realized how much fun it was back then, whereas it's lacking that feeling now.
It made me realize how much my whole mindset has changed over the years without me realizing or noticing it. Back then going into a DD game against Elusive or Rampage was like going against really tough bosses in video games and trying to overcome them. These days I can't really look up to any squads with that type of competitive feel. I really enjoyed those truly competitive days far more than the boring feeling I get playing now.
It made me want to go back to those days, yet I can't do that because of how my mind has shaped my thoughts on all the squads. I don't know if an opponent squad could impress me like back then anymore due to the lack of sufficient skill difference.
However, I may try it anyway if I end up playing until next league season, and just make a new squad out of purely pub exclusive talent and try to go through those difficult yet rewarding endeavors again.
