I would like to see the 1900 rez limit implemented in TWL. I've been using it for a few weeks and I've found that, while it doesn't increase my score or make me better, it significantly reduces the amount of constant effort in avoiding strays and I play less radar because I can see more ships, making the game a lot less (needlessly) tedious -- I enjoy playing more.

My R3 and R4 kills are low to non-existant (you're just too far to kill anyone paying attention even if they only see you on radar and you see them on screen) and playing against lower rez people hasn't felt like an advantage -- they just close in on your space to match their rez anyway.

It simply makes the game more enjoyable and less straining and with less focus on being strayed. People with lag TWL and it's a bigger discrepancy than resolution.

Imo a ld or lj squad doesnt need more than 15 players on their roster.
A lb squad only like 24. All 3x the amount of players in their league, so they have like 3 lines.
If you play another league just +5 for ld/lj and +8 for lb. So that would be max of 34.

I say 1 league squad (in twl) has a 20 player limit..you really dont need anymore to be active in twd/twl if you only wb/jav. Then do +5 players for every extra league a squad plays, so 3 leaguers get 30 compared to 1 leaguers 20. As vati said (i think it was vati) this will push some axed members to form other squads/attach themselves to squads that could do with their help.

i'm still biased towards getting more players to play ALL leagues, and would cap the rosters at 20 members if the squad was a 3 league one. but still, a roster cap won't save this game at all.

I think 25 is a fine roster cap for TWL even for teams that play all three leagues.

8+5+5=18. This leaves 7 backups. Also, for most of the teams at least 3 or 4 of them play multiple leagues so its not like you need straight backups for every single position. And for the teams that are stacked and etc that will complain... your teams are full of people who care about the league more because they actually do well in it and will show up every single week, so there's really no need to complain about anything. All this will do is increase league parity, which I would think would be a plus in anyone's mind.

Also, how are qualifications going to work this time around? Are the two finalists from last season granted a free pass? Are the final two spots going to be competed for in a mini tournament like usual or is it going to be the straight top 8? A lot of questions were left unanswered in that post.

meh i'm always against TWD roster limits since there are some casual ppl that log in once and a while and like to squad with their long term squad they used to be more active in. Forcing new squads in TWD shouldn't be the goal and we as a community should take more responsibility ourselves ... though that seems almost wishfull

i am however all for stricter TWL limits and would go with ricko's 20 + 5 per league ... i dont think that limit will be detrimental to it at all considering that it almost allows a replacement ship in all leagues and if you want to be a 3 league squad you generally have ppl overlapping anyhow.


kthx's idea for TWDT getting a spot in TWL sounds fun but probably not practical since the ppl that play are in squads, still good idea to have the winners play in the "all star" game at teh end or vs the winners or something for a bit of light hearted end-season entertainment

Well I figure most twdt teams probably have a max of what.. 2-3 people from each squad, maybe five at the most, and I doubt they are all starters in the same league if so, I don't think it would cause much of a problem in TWLB, and for winning twdt they get to play a few extra games a day, its a worthwhile prize that nobody has to donate money for.

One idea I am currently considering in regards to the roster size issue is thus:

Squads are permitted 25 players, plus an additional 5 per each extra league they qualify for. (this is for their twl roster, not twd).

I see little reason why a 1 league squad would need more than 25 players and why a 3 league squad would need more than 35. Thoughts?
